Topic: What data is recorded?

OK, on my 2316, it updates every 8 seconds. As far as windspeed, is my displayed value the highest value in that period or a snapshot of just that moment, or some kind of average? And the same with the data recorded to my PC. Every five minutes I have a record, but how is the value arrived at? I'm guessing it's a snapshot in both cases, but does anyone know for sure?
