New visitor to my site...
« on: January 27, 2008, 10:34:14 PM »
I recently received a visit from an IP address that resolves to:

fw-171. crh. noaa. gov

the visitor had just come from:

http://204.194.228.109/LMK_Mesonet_Obs.html

which I cannot get to resolve.  Does anyone know what/where/who this might be?!?

Bob beat me to it.     I must have been running it through samspade.org at the same time.

I wonder if it could be some sort of an internal web page that only the office(s) have access to.

LOL

You are slipping mark.  ;)

Yes, it is most likely an internal page for office use. I have several NWS offices linking to sections on my site this way.

Now that you have their contact information, contact them and talk with them to find out what they are doing. Maybe there is something you can do to help them out and make it better for everyone. They should be more then happy to work with you.

The Burlington,VT center was hammering my server for cam pics. Once I found out who it was, I contacted them to see what the deal was. In the end, we worked together to set up a system so they could get their pics to monitor river conditions and I wasn't getting my server hammered. In turn, the guy in charge keeps me updated on new cams, new nws features and the like. He even contacted me to test some new stuff that isn't even available yet.  It is a great relationship.

Does anyone know of a way to set up a page on my site (like the NWS page mentioned above) that only I can view - even if they know the url, they can't view the page, only me?!?  I'd like to do it without passwords so as not to slow down the access.
