You don't have the Meteotriviglo icons installed in /weather/forecast/images directory.  I'd suggest you use the standard .jpg icons instead (plus, the DualImage icons will show if the NWS does a split 12hr forecast -- it won't show if the Meteotriviglio icons are used).

Change Settings.php from
Quote
$SITE['fcsticonstype']= '.gif'; // default type='.jpg' -- use '.gif' for animated icons from http://www.meteotreviglio.com/
to
Quote
$SITE['fcsticonstype']= '.jpg'; // default type='.jpg' -- use '.gif' for animated icons from http://www.meteotreviglio.com/
to re-enable the NWS standard icons.

Did update and it interestingly didn't fix issue with missing icons. Somehow my images folder in forecast is gone. =(

So rebuilding it, I'm not seeing the animated icons hosted at http://www.meteotreviglio.com/ anymore. =(

The ability to (safely) see the Settings is built-in to the check-fetch-times.php diagnostic script using ?show=settings

Done!

I'm curious, though. How are you able to see my Settings.php file?

Going to go grab updates now.

How old is your WH32-EP ?
Mine showed the same phenomenon - the LCD panel stopped displaying after 2+ years (it looked as if water had entered which was of course not the case), but the readings were not impacted.
Ecowitt sent me a replacement display (very easy to replace) on request along with my next order.

Thank you for all your replies but I don't seem to be able to fix this despite suggestions here and from Davis. A lot points to the data logger being faulty but there does not seem to be anyway to try what often works with other apps, reformat and start afresh.

Thank you all anyway. I'm  grateful for your time and suggestions.

It has been about 5 years since AEM acquired Davis....

Well, I certainly wouldn't discount some pressure from AEM, but that's only part of the story, eg:

  • AIUI some Davis components, eg circuit boards, displays etc have been made in Asia for many years. So that's nothing new or recent.
  • Software subscriptions have been in place for 10 years now, maybe more. (But that's really no surprise. Other than open-source software, subscriptions are the norm for many if not most programs and online services these days.)
  • Cumulative inflation really has been substantial at eg 25% over the past 5 years

So what is your WX5 and 7 then and you must be able to recreate them again using the custom pages and the tags that you require?

It has been about 5 years since AEM acquired Davis. My guess is after the acquisition (August 2019-per AEM website), the new owners believed the Davis product line could withstand price increases without losing market share. The other two things they have done is having some manufacturing of Davis products made in places like China that have lower costs rather than the US, and moved the company, where possible,  to subscription-based pricing—like Weatherlink Live. In short, if I was a shareholder in AEM I would likely be happy. Time will tell whether this “new direction” will be good for the pws market.

Yeah, I agree.  His prices are a joke compared to what they used to be.  The standard ISS is $600 whereas the complete base station with the new touch screen console is only $690.  I remember when the basic ISS was like $325.

Scaled Instruments likely sets his prices based on the price he pays Davis. So the price to us consumers  is really determined by the price Davis sells its product to Scaled Instruments—so, blame Davis not Scaled. That said, the real blame belongs to the inflation the US has experienced the past few years.

Yeah, I get that.  I agree to that to a certain extent but I also think he is gouging like everyone else is.  His prices were creeping up before inflation hit.  Probably also somewhat to his costs increasing but he also is the only vender that I know of that parts out systems like he does so he also fits a niche for which he became popular.

I could go on about the Government and this joke of an administration that has proven itself but I’m sure there is a clause on here the same as everywhere else where politics are taboo and should not be spoken of.  I’ve already said enough you can figure out my stance.

Ryan explained at one point that the way he would do parts is that he'd have a surplus of ISS units that he'd essentially 'leech' the parts for.  I'm not sure if he does that now, but if he does it could be that if he wanted to remain a distributor that Davis could have mandated he not do that and get the smaller replacmennt parts directly from them.  I'm just not sure.  I can't see how a price jump from 39 to 89 in 4 years is logical though unless there are other factors.
