Title: Boltek PCI & PCI->PCI-e adapter
Post by: MGCJerry on August 13, 2017, 08:00:24 AM
I'm currently using a 1U server that has a compatible pci slot to handle all my weather related stuff, but Im wanting to migrate to a larger 2U case so I can also stop using fakeraid so I can also do more with the system. I've managed to score a supermicro X8DTF server, but it lacks any PCI slots. Has anyone had success using a boltek card in a PCI to pci-e adapter?

I used one when I bought my new computer, and it recognized the Boltek card, but I had a driver problem I was never able to figure out, so I had to go back to using my card on my old computer. It did see the card though. One of these days, I'll reformat the drive and reinstall Win 10. I know my driver problem is because I used a program to copy everything from a Vista PC to a Win 10 pc. During my troubleshooting, I read a lot of people had success using the adapter, and some had issues with defective adapters.
If you have any problems installing the driver due to Boltek's unsigned driver on Windows 10, you'll have to disable Window's driver signature verification. https://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/ Good luck! Let us know if it works!

Thanks for the reply. I don't plan on using windows 10 for my server because I have a license for Server 2003 & 2008. I'll more than likely use server 2008.

I'll keep everyone posted. The hard part is getting it to fit correctly because I'm using a 2U machine.

Ahhhh... sorry for the assumption. I hope it all goes smoothly! Please report back when you get it all hooked up! :)

I got the adapter in the mail today from China. 2 weeks ahead of estimated delivery. I wont be able to experiment until this weekend though.

Any luck with the adapter? Since Boltek has discontinued the PCI card, this is of interest to me.
