Need a local forecast for my site
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:25:00 PM »
I'm using Cumulus with some custom HTML pages and trying to find a source for a more detailed forecast than the weak version that comes from my Vantage Vue. I assume it will have to come from a web source as the Vue is not a forecaster.

Thanks for any leads.

If I understand you correctly you are looking for a forecast for your area?
Not sure if this is what you are looking for but the NWS,The Weather Channel, and Accuweather all provide forecasts independent of each other.
Or you could purchase Weather Simulator which gives a custom forecast for your location.
Also I like your website so far. Something completely different then what's out there.

I'm sure there's a variety of sources, but I use a 4-day forecast sticker from weatherforyou.com on my website.

That's the code I use and it works great for me.  If the software you use offers web page templates and those templates have a forecast that you like you may be able to use that portion of the code as well.

Good Luck

Thanks Ocala, I have some more work to do with the other pages that are still in the standard Cumulus format but it's been fun.

The free HAMweather scripts not only will provide forecasts but many other features...

Hey Joe! I'd like to make a suggestion.
Have HAMWeather create a configuration page that helps get everything setup. It looks like some cool stuff in there but trying to get it all figured out is a daunting task. I've played with it with a very basic setup but I know I'm only skimming the surface. I would even pay the license fee if I was confident I could get it all working correctly. And the problem is, I've worked with computers and software for more than 25 years.
