If TWC wants to buy my website for a respectable amount, I would probably sell out.  ;)

I dunno about this.  They received an alert.  They replied to stop the alerts.  They received a confirmation the alerts would stop (which they complained about as well).  The complaint doesn't say there were any further messages, just those two.

How long had the cell phone user had that phone number?  I've had to use some pay-as-you-go cell phones at times and in most cases I either get phone calls or text messages for the person that previously had the number that was assigned to me.  Did the previous owner of that number subscribe to the alerts and didn't unsubscribe?

They do claim TWC was sending using an automated random number device, but do they have proof of that?

No one makes a lot on class action suits (except the attorneys).  Just sounds like another way to make a lawyer richer, "stick it to corporate America" and take time away in our legal system from cases that really need attention.  In other words... frivolous law suit.

Joe,

I agree with you.  This sounds like a frivolous lawsuit.  I would want to know how many others have complained.  Good question about the phone number.  Was it new to him when he started receiving the messages.  Had he received thousands before he stopped the messages or was it just a few.

Let's save the courts for real lawsuits.

Thats not cool. If I seen mine anywhere, I'll stop sending data to WU.

WHY?

If they show PUBLIC data you are sending to CWOP, will you stop that also?

Why share weather data if you don't want to share it?

Cause personally, I don't like TWC. I share the data with the places I want to, and my choice would not to share with TWC.. Everyone has there preferences.

Personally I put the information out there to benefit the public.  If the public happens to be watching TWC or for that matter any other place on the web or TV when they see it I have no problems with that.  If I did I would setup a subscription only for profit website.  That is the only way to have any real legal control of what you post to the web and even then it can be an endless battle.

I saw it as well. I might be different than everyone else but if I saw my data on there I would be proud. Not because of TWC just in general to have it known.

From a lot of people I have talked too in the last 10 years or so, most people on the West coast dont like TWC. I said most, not all.

I remember emailing TWC when I lived in Idaho one winter when we got over 2 feet of snow in 1 day with no response. I emailed them cause they were more excited about the 2 inches NY City got. They dont pay much attention to the west coast, and thats why I think many people here dont care for them.

I noticed this on the TWC home page:

Quote
See Hurricane Sandy first hand

Watch video of Hurricane
Sandy through local webcams.
All from wunderground.com

So if you have a webcam for weather, you'd better have your logo on it or something, because it is subject to being used.
