Title: Wireless repeater issues

I am using a Davis Vantage Pro2 Standard Wireless Repeater Solar Powered that every so often loses contact with the weather station with the result that the console does not display the outdoor readings. However, the issue is that when this happens, the repeater needs to be turned on manually by flicking the dip switch and back again for it to begin receiving a signal. Why is this and how can this issue be solved?
