Davis factory contact
« on: November 29, 2016, 12:01:29 PM »
I sent my trusty old Vantage Vue back to Davis a couple of weeks ago to be repaired/refurbished.

I haven't heard that they received it, do they customarily advise receipt of a station or do you not hear from them until they have examined it?  Or fixed it?

Use your tracking number on your receipt and either call or use the website of the carrier you used to send the itme to see if they got it.  Not sure why you expect Davis to take time to call everyone to tell them they got the item when tracking numbers tell you !!!!

I think you will find that arrowspace90 was being a little bit facetious with the time
and it was not to be taken litteraly

After a couple weeks I would think you should be receiving it back pretty soon. I know once they get it the turn around time isn't very long.

Not a big deal anyway.  VP II is on the job.
If I don't hear anything, I will contact them after Xmas.

Before sending my Vue in for repair, I contacted Davis and was given a repair order number. After not hearing anything for 10 days I decided to give them a call, the fellow asked for the repair number, he checked and told me it had just arrived and was scheduled to be worked on the next day. The following day I received an email from the same person stating the Vue had been repaired and was in the process of being sent back to me. I received it about a week later, total turn around time was just under 3 weeks.

You had better call if you didn't get an RMA #. Did that once on a piece of electronics. The company didnt give me an RMA. Piece was lost for a month. Found on a loading dock later. I had to raise some hell with the head head. The response was more or less "...uuhhh we didnt know who's this was...." My name and address all over it, return label with phone number inside the box ??? Yeah...right. It mysteriously got fixed and returned the next day.

Most companies, including Davis, REQUIRE an RMA # before they will do anything with a package sent to them. Just contact Davis and ask for an RMA # before you return anything to them. See the following information and link:
I can't find it now but I have seen a receiving policy that states they will not accept any package coming in that does not have an RMA # on it.
Don - W3DRM - Emmett, Idaho --- Blitzortung ID: 808 --- FlightRadar24 ID: F-KBOI7
Davis Wireless VP2, WD 10.37s150,
StartWatch, VirtualVP, VPLive, Win10 Pro
--- Logitech HD Pro C920 webcam (off-line)
--- RIPE Atlas Probe - 32849

Right.
I just sent it to them.
They could have contacted me if there was an issue with that.
I will call them, no doubt they will say, "Who TF are you"

Well, just got email from Davis saying my repairs to my V Vue were complete.
$100 plus $12 shipping.
I called to give my CC number and, while I was at it, asked if he could tell me what they did to it.
He said sure, then, "well, the short version is, it was very worn, so we just replaced it".

I don't see what's wrong with that deal.  I told him thanks very much.

I just called Peavey about a hum in my old IPR 1600 watt amp. They said it was a known problem in the preamp and they would replace the board, test it and recertify it with a 1 year warranty for $50 plus parts and shipping. Really good deal. However, they said they don't give RMA's. Oh ok. So I am going to put a sticker on it with my name/add/phone on it....or not....hope they loose it and I get a nice new one.....
