Flash Flooding
« on: September 08, 2015, 11:08:47 PM »
From the US National Weather Service Honolulu & Central Pacific Hurricane Center Facebook page...

"Flash flooding is VERY dangerous. A group decided to climb a waterfall on Maui last week, even though there was a flash flood watch issued for the area. Unfortunately, they did not know about the Flash Flood Watch. Fortunately nobody was killed or seriously injured. It shows just how fast the water can overtake someone and that it does NOT have to be raining where you are to see flooding..."

Unfortunately, it happens a lot.  It can be raining cats and dogs miles away from you and turn small streams/rivers into raging torrents with little or no warning and sometimes with deadly results.

This happened just yesterday in SoCal where they are having a lot of flash flooding as the result of blowoff from TS Linda.
