Metar and VWS
« on: August 24, 2016, 09:44:44 PM »
Hi,

I don't know if I'm the only one experiencing this problem today, but my metar observations won't update with Hamweather. As for NOAA, it has never worked...

Hi,

my metar stations won't update
METAR is a coded wx observation primarily for aviation, not a station. :?:

Better like that? So, who had that problem and who has a solution?

No. How do you have METAR observations? Do you own ASOS's on airports and report from them personally? You statement makes no sense.

It's likely that hamweather was fetching the METAR observations from weather.noaa.gov website, and the NWS has shut that one down.
The equivalent observations that used to be in the http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/stations/ are now available at http://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/observations/metar/stations/

Maybe all that is required is to change the URL in the hamweather script to have it fetch the data.. I don't use hamweather, so I don't know for sure.

I have the same latest greatest version.
Looks like the link broke that's embedded in VWS.

Sorry, I do not use VWS. I was just thanking Ken for providing a new valid METAR source, I use in a metartaf script not working for nearly 2 months.

I have VWS 15p02 and set my METAR collection to come from NOAA, not Hamweather and it's working...

In my case, I set it to HAM cause it never worked with NOAA. As for HAM, it is quite a major issue in VWS. How can we change the link? Can we hope ambiant to provide us with a fix? BTW, English is my second language, in case I'm not clear.

Interesting...
I couldn't get the METAR from NOAA in VWS since it was installed on a WIN8 pc which is now at WIN10.

I have had a similar problem with VWS V15 and had to switch to Hamweather from NOAA and it took about 24 hours to update. My interval was set at 6 hours.

Check it now!
On my end, Hamweather started working about an hour ago.
