My station shows a max sustained wind of 60MPH with a gust of 79MPH.

I'm not sure I believe those numbers, but I have a number of shingles off both the house and garage and my TV antenna is twisted out of alignment. So I guess it's possible.

I would believe those readings. Must have been a pretty strong downburst.

It's been a busy night with a lot of tornadoes and destruction, and there's more to come. But, when the next line of storms comes through, it will be over for this go around.

It is all past us for today. Kind of anti-climatic here locally which is a good thing. Max gust 37mph.
However for the storms so far:
81 tornadoes
145 wind reports
349 hail

I think we're out of the woods. The last big red blob on the radar just finished. I am submitting a siginicant weather report to cocorahs for 1.02 inches in 30 minutes. It will be just rain and drizzle now until it ends. I hope everyone stays safe.

I've gotta say that the weathermen on Chattanooga television put in a day's work today. They came on around noon and stayed on constantly without commercials until 9:00. You could tell it was starting to get to them as they would have to stop and get a drink of water. Their voices were getting scratchy and you could tell they were getting tired. But it was an intense day with lots going on, and I think they did an excellent job. I'm sure today is a day they will remember.

Storm has passed his area. Surprisingly, his weather station didn't seem to indicate much wind in the storm. His weather radio feed is still working so that's a good sign.

I got real lucky again with this one. About half dozen flashes of lightning and maybe a 10 minute downpour was it. [-o<

I have to wander around the yard today picking up shingles and trying to figure out where they belong, but that's about it.

We were very fortunate. There was only one tornado that was close. We could hear it going over, but it never touched down here (I think it may have touched down a couple of counties over after us). We had one torrential rain storm, but that was it. It was nearly 80 F yesterday. It is sunny and cool (44F) this morning with 31F predicted Tue morning.

That must be some new buzzword they get paid to use. I've heard/seen it quite a bit recently.

Based on the stuff I've been picking up around the yard, those 60/70 numbers may not be too far off. Shingles at least 400' from the house. Two empty plastic 55 Gallon drums, not just rolled, but picked up and tossed.

This tornado outbreak is unusual for going so far north so early. This time of year tornadoes tend to be confined to to the gulf coast states.
