AmbientWeather.net Hosting Service for ObserverIP Series WS-0800-IP, WS-0900-IP, WS-1200-IP, WS-1400-IP

Ambient Weather has developed a hosting service that supports all of your sensors (indoor and outdoor), as well as email and text alerts.

It is currently in a beta testing phase. You are welcome to participate in the beta testing.  You will need to upgrade your firmware to Version 4.0.0 here:

http://www.ambientweather.com/observerip.html

Next, visit:

https://dashboard.ambientweather.net/dashboard

and create an account, and enter the Mac address found on the ObserverIP Weather Network panel.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

1. How do I report a  bug?

To report a bug, visit:

http://www.ambientweather.com/bugreport.html

2. How long will the beta test period last?

We can not give you a fixed date, but we expect the beta test to last a few months.

3. Is there an app I can download to my mobile device?

Since the website is mobile friendly and responsive, an app is not required. Just open any browser and visit:

https://dashboard.ambientweather.net/dashboard

Next, add a shortcut on your home screen.

4. Will AmbientWeather.net support IFTTT and Alexa?

Not at the moment, but we are planning integration into these types of devices.

Thanks for this.  You mention this "supports all your sensors".  Does this now mean it will support additional external sensors other than the primary all in one unit (when thinking about the WS-1400-IP).

Would really like to have an additional outdoor temp sensor.

No, it does not. The station is currently limited by the included sensors. However, you can certainly move the indoor thermometer/hygrometer/barometer outside and rename it from the dashboard.

Ed,

If I upgrade to 4.0 beta, will I no longer be able to submit my WS-1400-ip weather station data to wunderground or will the data be transmitted to both ambientweather.net and wunderground?

Thank you.

And does the 4.0 beta include the improvements to the firmware that were made in 3.1.8?  Thank you!

I just installed the 4.0 beta firmware on both my WS-1001 and WS-0900.

So far working good without any issues.

Thanks!

I found that if I let it using dhcp as a default option after reset, it can connect to wunderground fine; but once I change it to a static ip address, which I used to do with version 3.1.8 and earlier, then reboot, it would not connect to wunderground.

However, in both cases, it can send data to ambient weather dashboard fine.

So now I stick with dhcp until the bug has been solved.

I upgraded to 4.0 a couple of days back, all seemed fine until I got an email from weather underground early this morning stating that I'm not reporting, a reboot of the observer IP fixed the issue.

Maybe 4.0 has a memory leak? Can I downgrade to 3.1.8?

Also I setup a meteobridge last evening, don't think that caused the issue.

The issue in the past has not been memory leaks, the issue has been Wunderground.com hanging up their connection for up to one minute, which can cause other tasks to slow down.

We have fixed this in 3.1.8 and the same changes were implemented in 4.0.0, although we are expecting one more port improvement in 4.0.1 coming soon.

Thanks!

Thank you. Please can you post here when the beta update is available. Also can I safely downgrade to 3.1.8?

Thank you! Looks like it is out of beta.
My Observer IP stopped working again, happens once a day where all the lights come on and go off. Maybe it is the meteobridge that I setup a few days back. I have to manually turn off/on the power to make it work again.

So far so good. Loving AmbientWeather.net. A couple of suggestions though.
1. When viewing ambientweather.net on a mobile device (iPhone 7+) in my case, i'll have to scroll down to see the different conditions. Wish the first tile gave a summary, like current outdoor temp/wind speed, direction/rainfall/pressure.

2. Any chance you will integrate with https://www.pwsweather.com/ . I have Rachio (sprinkler system) that looks at local weather stations to decide if the lawn will be watered, problem is it reads only from https://www.pwsweather.com/

Just upgrade from 4.0 to 4.0.7, reset the observer ip.

The Ambient Weather Network update interval always resets itself to no update. Please fix...thanks.

just tried 4.08, the update interval for weather underground is 1 minute now :? However it seems to be updating ambientweather.net every 30 seconds although I have my update interval set to "every minute".
The dashboad on ambientweather.net varies last update as a few seconds ago to a minute ago. Is 1 minute interval to WU a new feature? I would rather have it like v3.xx with around 20 second updates.

AmbientWeather.net is updated once a minute if that is what you have selected.

Wunderground.com will continue to update once every 14 seconds as before. However, their website has become somewhat unstable and takes a great deal of time to open and close the port 80. This may be causing it to slow down but AmbientWeather.net has no impact on this.

Ed
