As with all hubs, this will screw up the rest of the country. #-o

This is an intense winter storm for sure. North Platte where the NWS FSO is located in this region is doing manual readings because the ASOS can't handle the weather. Same thing today at KVTN ASOS as the storm came through. What goods a fair weather weather station I ask.

Here was the tweet from North Platte: The storm is causing difficulties at the KLBF observation site. We manually measured 0.23" of liquid and estimate 2" snow as of 530pm CT.

Granted, harsh and inclement, but frankly, I find that unacceptable for the job the ASOS's are required to do.

Me too, this is the second time the KVTN crapped out this winter during intense storms. Tax payer dollars here, not being spent well.

I'll state the obvious here. Certainly no one flying in this mess (however I've seen stupider MANY times), but critical Wx info to a pilot is almost as crucial as his fuel state.

Yes true it is obvious nobody's flying or driving hopefully in a blizzard, but computer models are relying on the ASOS data and when precipitation turns to ice fog and doesn't show whats really happening is where it gets messed up.

Well they know about my website and just happen to drive up when I was outside shoveling asking me if I would interview about the blizzard. The interview took place in my driveway.

Congrats on the interview!!

There has been snow here, just in places.
I am the next blue line right of Crystal. Hwy 169.

Places with snow are about 25-30 miles away. We have none!!!!
The difference between snow and none is just a few miles

Thanks. Same here. I am on the NE side of Colorado Springs and white out conditions here all day. Downtown Colorado Springs is completely dry. About 10 miles probably.

My reward for not garaging the truck. You think I would learn, but I continue spending 30-40 minutes after a snow clearing it off.  #-o

Another snow storm headed here tomorrow night and Saturday. I fly out of Denver on Saturday to bring my kids to Walt Disney World in Orlando. Going to be interesting with a foot of snow possible.

Official high for yesterday shows as 69 Degrees.  Knowing how cool and blustery it was all day, I had to go look at their hourly entries.  As I expected, that high was at midnight (3/23-3/24) and the temp fell gradually among the rain and wind all day and evening to 44 the next midnight.

Thanks Jachym.
This is a cool feature having the YouTube option. I already had a few videos uploaded, so now I can do weather related.

Haven't seen any red on local radar in months. Getting into that time of year.... =D>  Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 9pm.
