Hello everyone!
I recently received Belfryboy's USB adapter for a Davis Vantage Pro2.

The Davis unit is new, and I still haven't plugged anything into her.
Haven't even powered up the Vantage Pro2 Console itself.

I have a raspberry pi.
My question:
How would I go about connecting the Davis to the raspberry pi?

I'm pretty technical, yet I don't want to "brick" the Davis unit because I didn't follow instructions.

Can you guys give me some pointers?

I was thinking of following this procedure:
  • Grab raspberry pi, and install WeeWX
  • Power-up the Davis Vantage Pro console
  • Enter Setup Mode in the console (press and hold DONE, then down arrow (-))
  • Remove batteries from the Davis, and remove the AC-power adapter.
  • Plug in the Belfryboy's USB data logger
  • Plug the other side of the USB data logger into the rPi
  • ???
  • Profit!

Does this look as the correct procedure?
Thank you very much for your help!
Greatly appreciated!!

That should work. Don't think you really have to power up and go to set up mode before powering down. I've been running that setup for the last couple of years.

I've got the Davis Vantage Vue 6250 - waiting on the belfry boy data logger.  Will the same procedure work for the 6250?

Going to the setup mode before powering down is a precaution to make sure the console is not writing data when you power it off or plug in the module.
