Crazy Dew Point Readings
« on: July 10, 2019, 05:52:25 PM »
Hello All,

I visited the CWOP site today and noticed that my Dew Point readings are out of bounds compared to other stations around me. Before you say anything, I narrowed down my stations to 2 airports ( one military) within 4 miles of me.
All my other data appears very close (within range) yet my Dew Point numbers are wavering something awful during the daylight hours. I do have a FARS unit and it is running 24/7.

Attached is today's graph.....

Jim

That graph is unfamiliar to me. Where did it come from and could I have your MADIS ID, please?

Well, looking here, as far as I'm concerned you're a PWS rock star. I wish my dew is as linear as yours is....I mean, that's crazy good.

I agree Dew Point looks good. What happened is a glitch in Gladstonefamily.net analysis which happens for who knows what reason sometimes.

What does need attention is your barometer needs calibrating as it is reading about 2 mil too low which is quite a bit off. On a cursory look as I didn't spend too much time to adequately determine exactly how off it is. Maybe I'll revisit later.

earlier this week, I had humidity readings of ZERO, and a Dewpoint of -204 with an air temp of 114 in the foothills outside Phoenix, and I would have thought that was not even possible!
Davis stations really show some different stuff!  \:D/

Unfortunately, that's too different. I've gotten dews in the -20F range at 1%, but your console shouldn't even let 0% display (hence the ridiculous dew point as well), so somethings amiss somewhere. Firmware version 3.0.0 is suppose to prohibit 0%, and I'm quite sure you should have at least several versions past that as new as your VP2 is. This alone makes me think another sensor may be in your future. If so, I just installed a new SHT31 a month ago and it's performing very nicely.

yeah, I thought that was unusual; it lasted for about 30 minutes, and then the humdity went back to 1%; the console said zero, but in the software it said 0.4%, which, I guess, rounded down to zero...I'll watch it and see, hopefully, I dont have to replace a sensor yet, since its less than 1 year old..
BTW, how in the world can the humidity even be 1% on planet earth??

Haven't hit 1% this year, but did several times last year. I wasn't alone as KTUS (ASOS) and a RAWS down the street also hit 1%.
