Hurricane Season

Today marks the beginning of the Atlantic hurricane season that runs until November 30th. Already computer model's are showing possible development within the next 5 days in the southern Gulf of Mexico.

...but, the eastern-Pacific "typhoon/hurricane/cyclone" season 'officially' started somewhat earlier, on May 15th.

OK, it is true we dont have hurricanes here, but the summer started with some very exceptionally precipitation amounts..


For the past three days there have been patchy thunderstorms all over the country, where I live it was only once really and we didnt get that much. However, in other parts of the country it was much worse, including Prague.

Some thunderstorms were accompanied by hailstorm with hails of a size of a golf ball, damaging many cars:

And then yesterday, in one of the cities we broke a record in the most rainfall in 60 minutes for the past over 100 years! 120mm/h (over 4.7in/h).

And it is supposed to continue in the upcoming days.... It would be nice if we had at least one bigger thunderstorm here as it was only drizzling for the past 3 days, but almost nonstop.

Many reports are issued every year regarding the damages done by the hurricanes. It wreaks havoc, wherever it appears. It always cause fear among the people because of its catastrophic nature. Certain measures and precautions should be taken according to the threat level of the hurricanes to eliminate the life threats. The weather hurricanes are getting worse and worse every year. According to today's report, High surf and powerful rip currents are expected in Atlantic and people are asked to exercise cautions when getting into the water.
