Can't help on the pronunciation but, this storm's name was provided by France.

Edit: Found it!  From babynames.com:

The meaning of the name Anais is Gracious, Merciful.
The origin of the name Anais is French.
Notes: Possibly a combination of Ana and Isabel. Pronounced Ah-na-EESE.

Im surprised that TWC hasnt tried tapping into trying to make up their own names for tropical storms... ;)  :roll:

I was thinking I should make up names.

Today in class-Every time I asked a student to be quiet she said-

"Oh my God-Mr. Reynolds!"

I thought it had a nice ring to it.

Stick the required umlaut over the second "a" - easy to pronounce then.  I often see it spelt that way.
