Lightening (rod) towers.
8-)

Possibly, I should know my recently deceased father in-law was with NASA mission control for years.
-
Getting dark. This should really be beautiful, IF they get her to fly...

Sorry for that.
I ate, drank, breathed NASA when I was a kid. =D>
-
Guys I am standing in an open field looking due east with clear skies!
5:57 is launch time.

Reason I was in Arizona 4 weeks in September getting my mom moved back to Houston. I've got a bunch of NASA memorabilia now which is really cool.

Oh.
If you get a chance to post some pics, I and probably a few others would love to see them!
-
I am 55 miles from the coast. Need a major zoom to even make a picture look good.
Besides have a dry front moving in now with clouds. If it goes much further I wont see anything.

Not sure I should put his name out. But here are a couple missions out of many.

Yes Randy thanks for the heads up.
Night launches are always the best. The clouds moved in but they were broken enough that it was still a good show. :-)

Did I hear this right it going to take a year to get GOESR calibrated.
-
:D Year to calibrate, then year to upgrade software, then one-year regular clean-up after 2 yrs in operation and then time to calibrate again :D

Wouldn't be surprised when Directv sends a bird up it takes about a year to light up. Everything is done in baby steps.

Thanks for posting that link Mike.

On my experimental page link, ( http://frankfortweather.us/fwsatgoes16x.php ) the lower left image is experimental modeling of a sample 'swath'...
"Synthetic Imagery Model Cross Section"
Interesting because on the lower left of the expanded image, you'll see a thumb US map with a diagonal line
through Kansas to Wyoming....
Here's direct link to CIRA RMMB for that model: http://tinyurl.com/zlzb4c3
...the graphics indicate potential temp layers (K), and movement speed (blue 'ellipses')
along that 'sample swath' with the bottom dark line indicating terrain altitude.
Good things coming...
