Adding indoor sensor to base station, not connecting
« on: April 11, 2011, 02:40:21 PM »
I'm rebuilding my father-in-law's complete weather system (5 years worn). The base station is an RS 63-1016. So far have cleaned up and reinstalled just the Outdoor thermo/hydro. Works great, connects to base. Also connected base to PC and am sending info to wunderground OK.

Couldn't find his indoor thermo/hydro/baro so went to OS online and bought a BTHR918 a 433MHz unit. Powered it up w/new batteries, all values look good, sendor button glows red every 30 seconds, stared scan w/base, base is not finding/reading the new indoor unit from 2' away. Reset base, started scan w/ "Channel" button, still not finding indoor unit.

Any ideas on what else to try???

Did you try pushing the reset button (or remove/re-insert batteries) on the BTHR968 before starting the scan on the console? Can't think of anything else.

That is a good idea, will try this.

Some progress, after looking at the sensor it turns out they shipped model BTHR918 indoor baro/temp/humidity sensor. Called OS customer service and they said this sensor should work with the OS model WMR968 base station. They also said this sensor is the equivalent replacement to model BTHR968 sensor.

Not sure if there is a difference between the Radio Shack 63-1016 and the WMR698 base stationl. Just put in a new battery and will try to get the two talking.
