Weather Station Question
« on: March 13, 2010, 01:01:21 PM »
I have read in the manual to disregard the readings on a Weather Station for 48 hours. Why do you have to disregard the readings for 48 hours on a Weather Station? I'm curious about that.

I've never heard that before.  What is the source of that statement?

It was in the manual that came with my Sister's Weather Station.

Without knowing what type of station it is, I would speculate that the 48 hours is to give the sensors time to adjust to the ambient surroundings.

Found in a LaCrosse manual:
Note :
After setting up, readings for weather forecasts should be disregarded for the
next 48-60 hours. This will allow sufficient time for the Weather Station to
collect air pressure data at a constant altitude and therefore result in a more
accurate forecast..

The observed wx data is not in question, but the forecasts that the console produces.  It needs time to produce an accurate forecast.
