very amature lightning pics (56k beware)
« on: May 02, 2010, 01:28:01 PM »
So I just got my first camera a month or so ago and I've really only had a couple opportunities for lightning photos.  I'm still working on finding the ideal settings and such plus my location stinks as you will see from the photos.  There are too many lights, power lines, etc to have a good clean shot of the lightning, never the less here is what I've come up with so far.  Tips tricks and other advice is very welcome.

ok a few non lightning shots first lol

ok now the lightning

I think whatever settings you used for the seventh photo (the one with the CG lightning), that's what I'd use.  8-)

You might want to add them as attachments instead, or if they're over 128 kb, then post a link to where people can see the pictures.  1 or 2 is not bad, but many like that makes reading the forum (recent posts) prohibitive for people that only have dialup.

Does the camera have a setting to keep the shutter open?
If so do that. Then change the settings after you get some pics but make sure you know what the setting were so you can go back to best ones.
