Well, I'll be danged.. Thanks, Dan, for the reminder and here (http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=3.msg28#msg28) was the first posting welcoming folks to our 'temporary' home which, oddly enough, became a regular home instead.
Of the founders, only Chris (capeweather) and I are still active as Drew(noquitters) and Larry(Anole) had to drop out for personal reasons.
From the original hosting provided by Chris (capeweather), we transitioned to new hosting on a different shared server (that also hosts the northamericanweather.net Regional Network Global site) on April, 8, 2013.
I'm very pleased that Chris (SLOweather) became a co-administrator and Mark (ALITTLEweird1) a global moderator to help Chris (capeweather) and I out in the management of the forum.
I'm very, very pleased that the folks here behave in a way that requires almost no moderation, and posts are generally respectful and helpful to the fellow weather enthusiast members. Y'all keep up the great work!
Best regards,
Ken

Sadly, the domain was snapped up by a domain scalper -- they'd paid $60 US when the registration lapsed and would be glad to sell it for $1,000 US. Sorry.. our/my pockets are not that flush with cash. I think the original scalper has sold it multiple times to other scalpers and now it's held by HugeDomains.com. I'm no longer interested is acquiring it so they can let it cool forever.

well the thing is - even if he only wanted 100 for it... why.... I dont think the current one is any worse

Congrats and thank you.
There are good administrators with knowledge and good people here too.
The best is we have common need/want. We (try) to stay away from personal attacks and politics.

Just checked my profile. I signed up on this day 10 years ago.
Ken what ever happened to Gary?

Gary Oldham (the founder of weatherforum.net) moved from Virginia to Round Rock, Texas in 2006 -- I'd tried contacting him to see if he'd like to resume his administrator role, but he was very busy with his new job and declined -- I think he's mostly lost interest in weather-related things so like many, has moved on to other interests.
You can follow him on Twitter @Garytx -- he's very active there. He delegated to the four of the founders to rebuild the forum, and here we are :)

Like Ocala I also signed up on July 26, 2006. Thanks to all of you who keep this forum alive and interesting! =D> \:D/ =D>

It is also nice to see that actually there are quite a few people who registered right at the beginning... just shows that weather is a life-time hobby :D

Awesome! Hard to believe that the forum has been around for 10 years! In 10 years, the forum has amassed almost 300,000 posts!
Thanks Ken and all the contributors, readers, moderators, and other administrators who keep the wheels on this baby going. It takes everyone to keep it working! :D
-
Wow, time does fly-by quickly when you are having fun \:D/
Looking back over the years, there have been some great posts and enhancements to the software all of us have used. We've all grown and benefited from the openness of everyone on this forum. I personally have learned a lot about weather, weather stations and software to support the old and new stations that have been produced over the past 10 years.
As has already been mentioned, it is the members of this forum who have made it what it is. We have had very few heated discussions and, for the most part, folks have behaved themselves. Our administrators and moderators have done an incredible job keeping this forum running smoothly. I look forward to another 10-years of watching this forum evolve to be even better that it has been over the first 10-years.
Well done to all... =D>

Wow, congrats! From running a forum myself, I know how much work goes on behind the scenes and how much staff members appreciate the good behavior of the community. This is an outstanding weather community where so much gets learned and shared. My forum is also 10 years old and will make 11 years later this December. Having a strong backbone of a membership means everything.
congrats and here's to another 10! =D>

Congrats. Glad I found the forum in 2012. UU

Wxforum.net is one of its kind, I love it. Internet would not be the same without it!
