Problem with the ATOM Warning Servers??
« on: May 12, 2011, 12:11:27 AM »
I have currently warnings that expired at 8:45 that are still showing as current. I have re ran the fetch several times above it's normal 3 minute interval and they still seem to not want to go away. Anybody else get warnings this evening in their warn area that is experiencing this? Or is it just related to me?

I have had no troubles with the script since the url change awhile back, it just sits there and pulls warnings, watches and advisories for several counties surrounding me without a hitch.

Just thought I would check in and poll the census about this anomaly :)

Wayne

My CWA is completely offline, radar and all... So I cannot offer anything other than to say make sure your local NWS office is actually online and updating.

Maybe another of their " Growing Pains" for the new system making itself known :)
Should be a robust system once they get the bugs worked out!

Well Dang!!  I have a current warning and a watch in my warn areas so I can't say for sure what it would do if these weren't current.
I wonder are they making changes to the system of does it plain and simple break down often :)

Sometime during the morning hours they apparently got it up and running because my system was showing the correct data earlier and these warnings and watches came up as they should.

Same scenario today... and this afternoon......    Warning triggered in close to real time but they don't seem to go away when they are set to expire. I have even noticed the warnings stay active longer than they are supposed after a NWR alert on my radio equipment also. Must be some sort of programming error somewhere.

Anybody else noticing this??

I am noticing this issue right now on my site.  It also happened last night.  Is anyone noticing that things stopped updating?

It always happens around 8:15PM EST time too.   #-o

I show my last update at 9:27Pm . But I have no warnings, watches or advisories here currently. as we're under the influence f a strong pressure gradient that is keeping my area away from what you are getting.

For some reason it does seem around the 8-8:30 time frame it happens.

Hope it gets repaired soon!

You can see mine are stuck at 8:15 here at http://www.mountcrawfordweather.org/warnings.php5

I have done a manual refresh a number of times and still the same thing.

Here is the NWS link for the alerts.

It's been easy to laugh at the NWS lately.
Since the ATOM feed introduction, it's getting to be a joke.

I totally agree.  I would prefer that they trashcaned the Atom feeds and brought back the RSS feeds.  Anyway, it took 4 emails to NWS before I finally got a reply but, they are aware of the problem which has been going on for about a week now, the process stops at about 8:00 pm EDT and starts back up at around 6:00 am EDT.  I only hope they find the problem and get it fixed soon.

It's 5:30 am and they are still stuck from last night.  It should be interesting to see if it comes back online/fixes itself after 6:00 as you guys mentioned.  :)

In the last 10 minutes, around 6:10am EDT, the NWS page Sam uses has been updated... but the page shows that it was last updated at 3:45am EDT.   #-o

I'm betting that there's a light switch involved here somewhere.

Yep Kray, Thanks.  Sure enough my warnings are working again after 6:00 am.

The light switch theory is good one too.

Sure sounds like somebody shuts down the system when they leave their shift
Mine was showing normal updates but I didn't have any warnings or advisories to check it on but normally when I do it does the same as Sam's does..sometime in the early morning hours they clear after being expired for hours. I have also noticed the warning light on my weather radio staying on as well when this happens which is strange..  Kevin's light switch theory is as they say on Myth Busters ..Plausible  \:D/

With our current pattern, looks like it will most likely get stuck again tonight.

Hey Harryca, what email address or whom did you contact?  I would like to send them a note of complaint, and perhaps nudge them into fixing this issue.
