Title: New forum for Posting/Brainteaser Games...
Post by: saratogaWX on March 30, 2009, 12:34:55 AM
I've created a new forum for the posting/brainteaser topics in Posting Games (http://www.wxforum.net/index.php?board=97.0), and moved the applicable topic threads from the Chit-Chat forum.

That way, folks who wish to play the games can have a place to do that, and folks who don't want to be notified can turn off posting notifications for the entire board (in your Profile).

To avoid indexing the games with search engines, I've set the Posting Games board for WXForum members only (not guests).

Best regards,
Ken

Thanks Ken! Maybe we should contact John in Alaska (Scalphunter) and see if he will come back now?

Great change.

Is there some way of tweaking the settings in my profile so that a specific board won't come up when I select Show unread posts since last visit  ?

I didn't find a user setting to 'ignore this board' for unread posts.. I'll look around and see if there's a SMF mod to accomplish this.  You can, however, turn off notification for that board in your profile settings.

Ken

Scalphunter, did he leave? When did I miss that?

First he said they were heading to the cabin for the summer, out of reach of everything. Then he said he was leaving because of the games...

Give the credit for the idea to lddaly .. he'd sent the PM to me with the idea :)

I thought it was a great idea also, and so implemented his suggestions.

Thanks to Iddaly!

I've installed a mod to allow you to totally ignore one or more boards (by ignore, it means you have no visibility to the board(s) selected, and the new topics/postings in the ignored board(s) will not appear in the 'unread' search).

To activate, just go to your Profile and click on "Ignore Boards Preferences" under the Modify Preferences in the left-hand menu bar.  Put a check mark in front of the board(s) you wish to ignore, and press the "Change Profile" button at the bottom of the page and you're done.  If you decide you don't want to ignore a board afterall, just visit the Ignore Boards Preferences page again, and remove the check mark(s) and press Change Profile .. the ignored board(s) will be viewable again.

Best regards,
Ken

Hmmm... while logged in, press the Profile button in the top menu and you should see

and the Ignore Boards Preferences should show up on the left.

Does your browser not display that?
