Just got this error today. It's been fine since I got the VP2 until today. (Barometer error). Any suggestions?

Apparently because of this:

Is there some reason why VWS was reporting for some 15 minutes, or so, rather than Cumulus?

Looks like pressure also shot, 30.43 @20:42 today, must of taken it out of range. Its back down now.  http://mesowest.utah.edu/cgi-bin/droman/meso_base_dyn.cgi?stn=E6753&unit=0&timetype=LOCAL

VWS was reporting a pressure of 304/305mb, which would right for an altitude of about 24K feet.

I just made what might be the same mistake - what a pain.

The problem is you probably sent CWOP a very low (non-zero) number, probably one time, and your data now has a single non-zero value in the 1 to 50 range when all other values are in the 1000 range. It will take about 2 weeks to work that number entry error through the system.

I made that mistake when my barometer units were in inches instead of millibars so CWOP saw my one entry of 31.50 inches, or whatever, as 31.50 millibars.

Do a data review period set to three days and the error will look better in a couple of days!

I had not used VWS for quite a while until yesterday. Since Cumulus and VWS don't play nice together on my pc, I shut Cumulus down and ran VWS for a while, and let it report.
Guess that's where I messed up.  #-o
Thanks everyone for the insight.

I personally have almost given up on C.W.O.P.  During the past few days my pressure has been off wack - but wait NO IT's NOT, it's C.W.O.P. AGAIN !!  I checked with other stations, yep they are all fine, but C.W.O.P.'s analysis is off the charts, there is too much up and down in the pressure, no constant reading, and that's on all the local stations around me.

The thing that annoys me the most, we all get emails saying that there are errors in our readings ! really, so how come the station readings in question are in a smooth transition during a period of time, yet the analysis shows we have all had hurricanes during the day

Come on C.W.O.P. get you act together, maybe your system needs to look more closely at the stations readings instead of reflecting what apparently are not bad readings when using your analysis !!

It's the analysis that's bad !! and that's proves that fact on looking at other stations.  I'm sure the analysis works by looking at all stations in a loop then working on the average reading (that may not be correct, just my idea) and then if there's a bad station - why show all stations as being bad, didn't think that was quite the idea but again it shows in the results.

As I've said before, my suggestion is to use Gladstone as merely a starting tool. Once you've got your PWS where it should be, be your own Gladstone and monitor your own data. After that, forget the neighbors as comparison (and Gladstone), and all the glitches like this included.

FWIW: When I've seen that in the past is was because of an incorrect altitude.

Forget Gladstone stuff and watch your data on mesowest. If you data bad it will either get an caution or red flag. Too many variables use Gladstone  but it can be use as an quick check. Been several time Gladston Ed says my data bad yet I follow the airport within reason data closely.  When I had an problem an quick e-mail to mesowest to see what was failing solved the problem. Most times what on Ed said was an problem wasn't .
