I think it changed the way rainrate/hourlyrain is reported back to the original way.

That is what it said in the emails I got from Ed today. You should have now have a user selectable choice between allowing the VWS calculating the rain rate or your weather station console.

Somebody write him an email to remind him to update the wiki. I am also looking for a change in one of the condition icons.

Time for bed, night all.

Same here,

Hey Mad Al, since you have V14 p45 up-step and let us know what it adds, for sure. Then those of us on V13.01 p9 can upgrade.

Okay, i am off to bed this time, I just had to do that Wind Direction/Wind Speed Display idea. It's pretty nice.

WILCO. But it'll be tomorrow morning when I upgrd. Learned the hard way that it's best to monitor betas after upgrading; never know what will happen.

If I've been following al this rain rate business correctly. All the new version of vws will do as far as rain rate is concerned is what it is doing now. So why whould you upgrade?

Thanks,
Anthony

Well, Anthony, in regards to my warning update issues awhile back I wanted to upgrade to 14 to see if that would fix it. But after I learned about the hourly rain issue, I finally just re-did parts of my site and stayed at 13. Now that this hourly rain issue seems to be taken out of the mix, I want to go ahead to version 14 for more stability and general VWS enhancements like order of warning alerts. I know there are no changes for OS-WMR968 users specifically, but there are more fixes for other minor issues.

And who knows I still may not change. I am waiting for those who already took the Version 14 plunge to report back. MadAl is sort of my guinea pig, because the only thing that can happen to him is more enhancements from what he already has. For me if we are wrong about the hourly rain issue, then I have jumped to early.

I don't know if this is what people wanted in WU because I never kept track there. Uner my station history, daily precip shows .01'' because I just had some frost, sorry Sam, MELLLLT. I haven't noticed a plot yet in either hourlyrain or rainrate, albeit because it only regs .02.

Just check under WU/sign-up and settings/ there are checkmarks for rainrate and hourlyrain. I don't know if both were always there. Someone w/ 14p40something check.

After checking WU, I do know this, WU shows 3.97'' vice my 4.01''. Now if it remains a .04 spread, then they are recving my .01 increments in precip.

No WU graph updates for .01'' recordings.

There is now a very detailed description of the changes in .49 on the wiki. I have done the update and am happy to report that I still have all my fingers and toes..... =D> Now I just have to wait for some rain...... Now that's not something you are going to hear me say very often from here in the Pacific NorthWet

Could you post a screen shot of those possibly new setting choices? :-) Sorry, I am being such a pain.

Up on p50 from p45, but I have not noticed an addition of choice on how rainfall is reported. According to the beta relerase notes, the change was just back to the old way of calculating. Will have to wait for some rain until it can be determined what/how is uploaded to WU.

I was under the impression that Ed put a user selectable choice for the Hourly Rain changes and such. Either in the Wunderground settings or perhaps some where else. I guess I will have to install it on a "test computer" to know for sure.

EDIT: After reading back in the thread...

^^^That was the screenshot I was hoping to see. Not the result of rain, if you got any, but just where you change those settings.

I fell back to p45 because of the p49 problems and checked before upping to p50.....those checkmarked items were there in p45.

I just found a /24hr/ graph, only found under MODIFY DISPLAY/GRAPH 2/. You cannot view this tag any other way. It is not accessible under WU SETTINGS. I graphed the last 120 hrs, and it registered .01 a 1/4 into the 18th, but it plotted 1/4 the way into the 19th.

P49. Changed Hourly Rain to old method. That tells me no choice.

Ok, thanks MadAlwx, I guess it would really be better for me in the long run to upgrade to the newest beta and keep a close eye on things for a day or so.

I just found a /24hr/ graph, only found under MODIFY DISPLAY/GRAPH 2/.

Graph1 says "Yesterday Rain". Graph2 replaces it with "24 Hr Rain"
I'm gonna guess theat one is a typo.
I wonder which one??

24 hour rain is correct. Yesterday Rain was removed from the software years ago.

Sam,
I'm posting here because this is where the original :?: was asked. And there are too many rain questions scattered in the Regular VWS threads about the Beta Ver that I don't want to start a new one.
We had .01'' shortly after 0400 then an addt'l .03 ending 0730. WU has correctly reported this amount using the Hourly tag.
