P-3 Orion Hurricane Hunter tour
« on: May 07, 2009, 02:30:30 PM »
In a few minutes, I'll be driving to the airport to tour (and hopefully take many pictures of) one of the Orion's...

Slightly off topic, but better here than in the photography section I think...

Since it's big public event, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to take pics... which I'll post later tonight...

A P-3 made a few passes across my back 40 a few weeks ago. It was right exciting.

I'd hate to see one pass by my back yard in order to drop fire retardant...

Pics have been down-rezzed quite a bit... if anyone wants to see a higher-res image, let me know...

They were moving people through the plane fairly fast, maybe 3-5 minutes to go back to front and back out...

Kevin...

They were all available to "meet and greet", but spread out among various areas. One of the pilots was in the cockpit to answer questions, but we were rushed through.

From a local news story I saw that the director of NHC was also there (Bill Read)...
