Topic: False "Radar Down for Maintenance" on wxradar.php

Recently, I have started to see the black background radar screen on wxradar.php. It has the red text with the "Radar Down for Maintenance" message. With a page reload, it sometimes disappears and can move to one of the other zoom levels with a normal result. The actual radar status is "up".

I checked the example page on http://saratoga-weather.net/scripts-WUradar.php#WUradar and I saw it happen a couple of times there as well.

The problem seems to "come and go" as you click the various zoom levels or re-enter the page. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all. You may need to try several times, or come back to it later since it is quite intermittent.

Probably our "buddies" at WU....

I see a few of the NY ones are down for maintenance. Another 'glitch" on their part I guess.

Also failing on Stan's site in Maui. I don't use that graphic here.

Yep, mine has been on and off most of the time during the past couple of weeks now and getting to be more off than on in the past few days. Guess WU issues with this.

This is a WU problem.. they aren't reliably generating a fixed GIF image of the radar.  Sometimes, the animated GIF is available when the fixed GIF is not.  It's not something the script can fix...sorry.

Yep not your issue with this but with WU.  Wonder if there may be other resources that has the same animated GIF images out there?

Makes me wonder when WU will collapse all together.

You wonder if they are allowing this stuff to occur on purpose, an easy way to just allows users to "go away" because they are flat out NOT going to fix any of this...

also wanted to mention as of january 8th 2018....all of the sites I go to using the saratoga template with the regional radar image in top left of dashboard havent updated since january 3rd...again not a script problem but a WU Problem.

maybe it is time to find another source for our radar images.

Hi Folks,

I am using Unisys for my Regional Radar pages. They do have radar loops as well.

Also, I am using IEM for my local radar page, in addition to my GR3 pages.

May not be what you want, but here's an NWS six hour loop.

The main script, and the iframe. (As usual, right-click and 'Save as...' a php rather than a txt file.)
