Hi Wim,
That was easy, just had to edit the wsMetNoSA printSaratoga.php and now shows my station and location.

Upon comparing the 2 scripts I have found the following:
wsYrNoSA seems to have a calculation error in Day Length.  Shows Sunrise and Sunset correctly at 05:51 and 20:54 but shows 9:04 hrs and it should be 15:04 hrs (this is the same in stand-alone and Saratoga) http://www.komokaweather.com/wsYrNoSA/printFull.php and http://www.komokaweather.com/wxyrnoFcstpage.php.  In the Saratoga it also shows MetNoForecast rather then YrNo

wsMetNoSA as Saratoga seems fine, but in stand-alone the Day and date text does not scroll with the forecast data http://www.komokaweather.com/wsMetNoSA/printFull.php

I also have the YR.No site link http://www.yr.no/place/Canada/Ontario/Komoka/ which defaults to London, Ontario Canada and the wsYrNoSA scripts is a near perfect match.  The wsMetNoSA script is slightly different but very close.

Thanks for your work on this and your excellent explanation.

Paul

Hello Paul

wsYrNoSA seems to have a calculation error in Day Length.
Corrected script is attached.

Quote
In the Saratoga it also shows MetNoForecast rather then YrNo
The stand-alone versions have their own "langlookup" routines to translate words and sentences.
"MetNoForecast." is translated with this langlookup entry "langlookup|MetNoForecast.|Weather forecast for: '|"
The Saratoga versions depend on the built-in translation. This link (in Chrome) shows at the end all missing translation entiries.
view-source:http://www.komokaweather.com/wxyrnoFcstpage.php?lang=fr&show=missing
You will find the missing langlookup entries in "wsYrNoSA/lang/wsLanguage-en.txt" and "wsYrNoSA/lang/wsLanguage-en-local.txt" for English.
With "fr" in the name for French.  I can not add the translation files from my scripts as I would disturb your translations. You should do it yourself by copying those entries you need.

Quote
wsMetNoSA as Saratoga seems fine, but in stand-alone the Day and date text does not scroll with the forecast data http://www.komokaweather.com/wsMetNoSA/printFull.php
I do not understand this. The MetNo scripts use a new way of scrolling where the table headers are now displayed after every  "day information line". So with every new day there should be new table headers. In the current YrNo scripts the table header is only printed once and disappears when you are scrolling the table.

Quote
I also have the YR.No site link http://www.yr.no/place/Canada/Ontario/Komoka/ which defaults to London, Ontario Canada
For YrNo scripts the forecast is based on this setting, which probably is set to Toronto.
Code: [Select]
$SITE['yrnoID'] = 'Canada/Ontario/Toronto'; // #####   generic adresYou could modify the setting  to "Canada/Ontario/London" if that better matches your area..
The MetNo script uses latitude and longitude, not the city centers as does YrNo. The MetNo script forecasts should in theory more closely match your area forecast.

Thanks for testing these scripts, have a nice day,
Wim

I will need to commit some time to better understand the langlookup and multi-language feature in your and Ken's scripts which I so far have avoided

It only happens with the stand-alone and on 2 separate computers here.  Now that I have a better understanding of how the MetNo and Saratoga settings intertwine I will reinstall the MetNo from beginning and do the tests to see from when this occurs.

My comment on the YrNo site links and comparison to your YrNo and MetNo scripts was intended to confirm that with the correct settings the scripts provide the correct forecast, well done =D>.  I believe that I now have the YrNo site, YrNo and MetNo scripts all with their applicable location and forecast.

Thanks for your detailed work on this,
Paul

Wim, did you ever get a chance to implement this?

I've been looking through the scripts but didn't see away for me to do it with my limited skills!

As I understand you correctly you would prefer
                 2013-05-25  which is Saterday
18:00-24:00 Saterday evening
                 2013-05-26 which is Sunday
24:00-06:00 Saterday night
06:00-12:00 Sunday morning
12:00-18:00 Sunday afternoon
18:00-24:00 Sunday evening
                  2013-05-26 which is Monday
24:00-06:00 Sunday night
06:00-12:00 Monday morning

An extra problem with these forecasts is that they do not follow nicely the 6 hour 00-06-12-18-00  time frame but are 0, 1 or 2 hours off. That is because they are based on 6 hours Zulu (Greenwich) time.
I propose to make a setting so that everybody can choose if the first 6 hour period of a calender day is called the night of the previous day.
OK?

It is on my ToDo list.
Until 20-13-06-11 I am abroad with very uncertain and slow Internet.
After that date I will contact you when  and how that new feature will be available.

Enclosed the updates of the wsMetNoSA scripts.
1. Always make a backup of the current folder, just to be sure.
2. You have to replace the wsMetNoSA/metnoGenerateHtml.php script
3. One extra setting is needed
$SITE['nightDayBefore']   = true;
for both the stand-alone script: wsMetNoSA/metnoSettings.php you can check line 51
and the Saratoga script: wsMetNoSA/printSaratoga.php you can check line 78
Do not replace the setting-scripts with the downloaded ones as you probably changed a lot of other settings.
Just add this new setting to your current scripts.
If set to true the night part is named the same as the previous day.
I tested with European input and it looks OK to me.
If no new errors pop-up I will add this setting to the other scripts (YrNo and WXSIM) shortly.

Hi Wim,

Have noticed an error on my page here:  Saline Weather  The code is showing the high temps for me in black, which is causing the error, I believe.  I haven't changed a thing since I uploaded the script.

Thanks for the help and an awesome script,

While living in a moderate climate I never expected those high temperatures, UV and solar values.
The black temperature colors are caused by out of bound color lookup. The sol tab is distorted by the high w/m2 values.
I  adapted the script a few weeks ago but omitted to warn users on this forum also. My apologies for this.

The template is (more or less) adapted for the USA.
Demo http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/northam/
Adaptions specific for the US are
1. noaa forecasts in the same style as MetNo and WXSIM http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/northam/index.php?p=401
2. One page noaa forecast http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/northam/index.php?p=411
Both forecasts use the noaa xml feeds
3. noaa watches, warnings or advisories using the cap/xml feeds. They show up either on top of the page or just below the header part. Clicking on a info button in the message displays the detailed page.
4. Precipitation radar / cloud radar / thunderstorms

Documentation and download link: http://www.weerstation-leuven.be/_template2/template.php?lang=en

The settings for the demo website are Branford, CT|41.30|-72.79| The warnings and forecasts are based on that location. I do not own a weather-station in the USA which could feed the website with data and webcam images.  The realtime data is from Europe/Belgium/Leuven. The update times and high low times are CET, 5 hours earlier than Branford CT time.

I am always pleased with your feedback so I can improve the template and its scripts. Use the forum, a PM and or the contact page at my weatherstation: http://www.weerstation-wilsele.be/weather2/index.php?p=86&wp=MH&lang=en

I am giving the USA version a shot, and got hung up on the template finding my data. I am using WD and all the files are being uploaded to the root directory. The template files are located in a subfolder "weather2".

In the wsSettingsWeather.php, this is commented out:
Code: [Select]
#$SITE['uploadDir'] =  '../weather2/upload'.$SITE['WXsoftware'].'/';and this is uncommented:
Code: [Select]
$SITE['uploadDir'] =  '../';On the "Trends page" (61), the template is finding the wind direction image that is found in the root. It also appears that the steel series gauges have found the right data. What am I missing?

Thanks for using the template.
"My wxsim forecast isn't showing right."
1. The temperature is probably not set correctly in the settings for wsWxsim. It seems to be in C. As plaintext.txt does not supply the units used, the conversion is done based on the settings.
line approx. 98 in wsWxsimSettings.php should read:
Code: [Select]
$uoms = array('F','in','mph','inhg','in','mi'); 2. Coming from a more modarate climate I see again too  high values for solar on the solar graph tab.
I will again adapt that in the script shortly.
"Nearby metars are European."
Nearby metars are a very tasty leftover from the past and will be replaced in the next release with a grapical map with those values displayed.
If you want that page to be customized to to your area: it is based on Kent True's extremely nice program with which you can locate nearby airports.
"My yowindow seems to have night and day mixed up."
I see no problems with YoWindow it displays the correct time but I will look further into it.
The current conditons are not displayed so it seems that the xml is not uploaded or that the crossdomain.xml is not in the root.

I will look further into your remarks, but consider the time difference. so probably tomorrow morning your time.
Wim
Edit because I forgot to mention:
After changing a setting for wxsim forecasts or for any other forecast:
REMOVE the correcponding file from the cache. The intermediate arrays are stored in weather2/cache/ so you either wait until the next run or, when you remove the cached file, see the effect of the changes immediately.

First, thanks for this wonderful template.  It's really nice.
The change you suggested worked to fix my wsWxsim problem.
Yowindow on my page is showing 5:27am when it is 12:27 pm here.
I'll keep working on it little by little.

different name in C:\wdisplay\webfiles.  You need some more steps to upload our renamed testtags.txt . .
".
You deleted the weather2/uploadWD/ folder so you can not use the wdConfig.php program to download the needed files.
0. you find out testtags.txt in weaher2/_config/WD_tagsPrototype.txt
1. Copy that file to your PC and rename that file into wsTesttags.txt
2. Copy to your C:\wdisplay\webfiles folder
3. Tell WD to upload that file into your websites root (as you choose that location already) and give it a name of wsTesttags.php The name is not important as long as it is NOT named as testtags.php,  that is Saratoga's name for their file.
4. Change a setting in weather2/wsSettingsWeather.php line approx. 152 ? from
Code: [Select]
$SITE['wsTags'] = $SITE['uploadDir'].'testtags.php'; to
Code: [Select]
$SITE['wsTags'] = $SITE['uploadDir'].'wsTesttags.php'; The template can than process todays and yesterdays values from wsTesttags.php
I hope that my English is clear enough for you to understand what I am talking about.
Succes, Wim
P.S.
If you restore the weather2/uploadWD/ folder you can use the config program
http://www.cavecountryweather.com/weather2/wdConfig.php
This program normally helps you download the needed files (for WD, YoWindow / Steelseries).
It also helps to check settings and the uploaded tags.

Starting to get things working.  One thing I can't figure out is why the background shows night and the weather icon also shows night time partly cloudy when it's 330 pm.  The clock also shows the correct time on the web.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Either I missed this folder or it was not included in the download.  :-|
Anyway, I created the folder and followed the instructions. It appears all is working so far.

I was having that problem.  It helped when I changed curCondFrom to WD from metar.

Thanks that did it.

One other thing is where can I make it so that weather conditions have a . (decimal) instead of a comma (i.e. temperature 85,3)

Thanks,

John

In wsSettings change
Code: [Select]
$SITE['commaDecimal'] = true;  // not yet widely used in this version of the template set, next release will improve on this to
Code: [Select]
$SITE['commaDecimal'] = false;  // not yet widely used in this version of the template set, next release will improve on this

One problem I've encountered  is using the metar for current conditions.  When using this method day and night are backwards.  When I use WD for current conditions day and night are good but the conditions are more accurate from the metar.
