How old is your WH32-EP ?
Mine showed the same phenomenon - the LCD panel stopped displaying after 2+ years (it looked as if water had entered which was of course not the case), but the readings were not impacted.
Ecowitt sent me a replacement display (very easy to replace) on request along with my next order.

Thank you for all your replies but I don't seem to be able to fix this despite suggestions here and from Davis. A lot points to the data logger being faulty but there does not seem to be anyway to try what often works with other apps, reformat and start afresh.

Thank you all anyway. I'm  grateful for your time and suggestions.

Well, I certainly wouldn't discount some pressure from AEM, but that's only part of the story, eg:

  • AIUI some Davis components, eg circuit boards, displays etc have been made in Asia for many years. So that's nothing new or recent.
  • Software subscriptions have been in place for 10 years now, maybe more. (But that's really no surprise. Other than open-source software, subscriptions are the norm for many if not most programs and online services these days.)
  • Cumulative inflation really has been substantial at eg 25% over the past 5 years

It has been about 5 years since AEM acquired Davis. My guess is after the acquisition (August 2019-per AEM website), the new owners believed the Davis product line could withstand price increases without losing market share. The other two things they have done is having some manufacturing of Davis products made in places like China that have lower costs rather than the US, and moved the company, where possible,  to subscription-based pricing—like Weatherlink Live. In short, if I was a shareholder in AEM I would likely be happy. Time will tell whether this “new direction” will be good for the pws market.

Yeah, I get that.  I agree to that to a certain extent but I also think he is gouging like everyone else is.  His prices were creeping up before inflation hit.  Probably also somewhat to his costs increasing but he also is the only vender that I know of that parts out systems like he does so he also fits a niche for which he became popular.

I could go on about the Government and this joke of an administration that has proven itself but I’m sure there is a clause on here the same as everywhere else where politics are taboo and should not be spoken of.  I’ve already said enough you can figure out my stance.

Ryan explained at one point that the way he would do parts is that he'd have a surplus of ISS units that he'd essentially 'leech' the parts for.  I'm not sure if he does that now, but if he does it could be that if he wanted to remain a distributor that Davis could have mandated he not do that and get the smaller replacmennt parts directly from them.  I'm just not sure.  I can't see how a price jump from 39 to 89 in 4 years is logical though unless there are other factors.

I cannot remember if wxlocal is in the full install if you have got that file in the webfiles folder copy it and rename with the number on the end and put the tags in it from the tagslist.txt for your website suggest you download the Wx0-7 from your website folder to help with tags you need
I have to assume you never backed up WD off pc and you cannot manually access the files on the old hard drive
As I stated above, I did do a full install as my user account on the cpu was corrupted when it crashed and I had no access to my backup or any wdisplay files. That's why if someone has the template for wx5 and 7 I could paste them into my wdisplay/webfiles folder to see if I could "create" them thru the Customise Internet And File Creation Setup. Also noticed my testtags have not updated as well since crash.

The screen on my wh32ep started acting up and not showing normally. So far, the temp and humidity from the sensor is still working.
Temps have been lows in the mid 30's f at night to highs in the 60's f during the day.

Have to wonder how long it will continue to work..

I am sure that this is a correct reading of the situation. Trade pricing will be at a fixed discount to Davis RRP.

Just to give you one example of price increases: In 2019, a 6410 anemometer Davis RRP was $155 (itself an increase on 2018). In 2024 that same part costs $235 RRP. That's over 50% increase in 5 years. And the anemometer is fairly typical.
