WTGR800 wind sensor
« on: October 04, 2017, 11:36:35 AM »
Hi folks,

First post here,

I was bought a WMR89A, as a gift just over two years ago.
The wind sensor on it was never accurate.
Local weather report would indicate windows of 30kph, it would 10kph.

I assumed for a long time it (2 years), that the mounting position was at fault.
That the wind was being deflected by my house, so recently I erected the a 3.5 meter pole and vaulted the sensor over my house.
No improvement.

So its on a 3.5 meter pole, over a house, that sits at the top of a hill (literally) - so its not the position.

Does anybody help have these sensors?
I would buy a replacement, if I thought it would work any better.

Ray K

I have the old WMR968 at 10m, i then bought a Davis VP2 and mounted it at the same height
I thought it was much slower, but then i relaised that the Davis transmits ever 2.5 seconds and
the OS about 14 seconds, cause of that lag, the OS misses many decent gusts.......
Kind regards
Bashy

Yeah,

That is my sense also - I have a 433Mhz receiver, and it transmits about every 14 seconds.
It doesn't have the granularity then.

Thanks,

I am in the same situation.  I was frustrated with my OS station.  Davis makes a much better station.  You can get a very accurate Davis Vue for a reasonable price if you don't need all the bells and whistles.

Good luck!  :)
