I use MeteoBridge to FTP my MBtags.php file to my server every 5 minutes, and it's the only reason I even have an FTP server running on that server. And even though I run my FTP server on a non-standard port, and use Fail2Ban to lock out brute force FTP attacks from the Chinese botnets, I'd still sleep better if I could rather rely on SFTP.
So this is a friendly feature request for a future version of MeteoBridge software to allow SFTP on the Push Services tab. :) Thanks!

Bump from long ago - In case anyone else hadn't noticed (I had not), SFTP is now available on the Meteobridge. I'm running 3.7 (Jul 20 2018, build 12257).
I noticed that my status page was showing very stale FTP data - because my host was no longer supporting FTP access. So I was pleasantly surprised to see the MB SFTP support there, and all works fine for me now.

I recommend to read here from time to time to understand what features have been added: https://www.meteobridge.com/wiki/index.php/Forum

I have just run into this problem with IONOS using Meteobridge 5.7 (Sep 3 2023, build 15025), FW 1.5
My current setup on Service is ftp.xxxx.com and Port is 21
I have changed the FTP to SFTP and it causes an error
Then changed Port to 22 still an error.
Checked my account with IONOS and it is showing the setup as SFTP but beginning the new year it will reject FTP uploads. Currently it is working fine with FTP.
Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

I suggest you see https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=45718.0
IONOS is slowly switching off support for OpenSSL 1.0 and so Meteobridge no longer works with SFTP to IONOS shared services.
The thread above has a couple of bypasses for the issue.

Thanks for the link. It doesn’t look good for continuing with Meteobridge. IONOS sent me an email that Dec 31 was the last day for FTP.

Ken provided some ideas for other standalone solutions (Cumulus and WeeWx) in the other thread. When I have the time I'm going to figure out which way I'm going given that MB will not be feasible in the long term. Whichever one of us gets to it first should start another thread about the migration.

Thanks for all your input.
The website has been up for 20 years. Meteobridge has run unattended, except for a lightening strike for the past 7 years. At this point I don’t think I want to go back to running a computer 24/7. I will continue monitoring the forum and hope the problem can be resolved. In the meantime I will start a chat with IONOS.

Thanks for the update.
Everything working on main weather but have problems with the Extremes loading. I will need to do some more testing when I can get some free time next week.
Thanks for your help.

I was able to get this to work with IONOS - thanks Boris!
One nit to report: On a server that requires a port other than 22, it didn't work (the host in question, not IONOS, uses 65002). So I'm wondering if the proxy on the MB server is using 22 by default rather than the port that is configured on the Service Settings screen. Doesn't affect me but might be an issue for others.

You can use a fully qualified sftp statement in the event definition. This allows to send to different (S)FTP servers and in each invocation a port can be defined.

Hi, I am working on this problem again and still can't get it to work. Could you do a screen print of your Events and Service settings with personal data x out of course. I am probably just getting the formatting incorrect. Boris's fully qualified sample is far different from what I am using with IONOS.
The Service settings have a green check mark but the following error comes up on test Proxy-SFTP Error: Proxy-SFTP test upload failed: Error: SFTP connect to sftp.pilor.com via port 22 failed.
I am using this in the Host box sftp.pilor.com and port 22
Thanks

If that's your image with the FTP box, that's the issue. You need to use the service "Proxy-SFTP Upload" instead.

My bad I put the old photo using FTP here is the one that isn't working. [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
HTTP upload do work.

That's still not the right one. You need the Proxy service.

I think I am confused.
In my upper photo #07 I have selected proxy-sftp
The lower photo is the service setting without a drop down list.
Pressing Test Proxy-SFTP shows Proxy-SFTP test upload successfully done, file 'test-upload' stored on SFTP server
Pressing Test SFTP I am getting Error: SFTP test upload failed: Couldn't read packet: Connection reset by peer
But still can't get the #07 file to upload using Proxy-SFTP . IONOS still accepts FTP but not for long. FTP works.
Thanks for your help

Where it says "Path (file)", I believe you just need the relative path name from the directory you are loading into. I.e get rid of the text "proxysftp//:". Use the same text you do in the FTP box for Path (file).
-
I removed the "proxysftp//:" and it is working [tup] .
I wanted to make sure this is working before changing from the US IONOS (FTP still working until August) to the Canadian IONOS, SFTP only. You would think this would just be an administrative change but no, it is the same as going to a completely new host.
Thanks so much for your help.
