Acurite Dual solar panel
« on: July 31, 2016, 11:46:43 AM »
I got the Acurite with dual panels for my birthday to replace an old one.  Costco had a great price on it.  My husband installed it on an old satellite post on top of the house.  We figure it's about 23 ft. off the ground.  I'm not sure about the accuracy yet because it's in it's "learning mode" for the next two weeks.  Got my station on Weather Underground.  My station is KMILAKEO10 in Lake Orion, MI.

I was going to say, that looks like the satellite dish mount we have attached on side of our house but not being used. I just may put it to good use also. What did you use to mount your weather station to the satellite dish mount?

I asked my husband what he used.  It is an old unused satellite dish stand.  He said he used two different sizes of electrical pvc, one cut to fit in the dish stand tube and another smaller pvc to accommodate the weather station then he used a screw to secure the pvc together.  He's one of those guys that has got to do it right.  It took him most of the day to come up with a plan.  Trial and error.  Good luck.  The picture gives more detail, click on it.

Thank you for the quick response.
Today I will remove the satellite dish from the side of the house and take some measurements. I also have some other ideas in mind for setting up my station but this seems like a good alternative.

I appreciate it.

I went ahead and posted a few pictures of my weather station set up. They are under Weather Station Pictures.
