I stop using Teamviewer awhile back.

Remote P.C. is very, very good. Price wise, as well as support.

Thanks all for the ideas, I was starting to get Teamviewer harassment emails also. Just put Anydesk on and seems to work.  I'll keep Chrome RemoteDesktop in mind too.

Weird.  I've been using TV for years and never an issue - even from around the world. And right now for example - in flight!

I rarely use TeamViewer, on average twice a week for remote weather station. Recently I started getting these emails I'm a heavy user and asking for a declaration I'm not commercial.

I submitted that declaration a couple of months ago, but nothing really changed.  They still harassed me at every opportunity, i.e. any session over 30 seconds or so would get a 'Play Fair' popup on both computers.  AnyDesk isn't free in my situation but it's less than half what TeamViewer wanted for a 'Pro' license.  AnyDesk also runs on multiple platforms, including Android, iOS, and my Debian Server where it installed seamlessly and is now running.

I've been using TeamViewer as a "heavy user" since 2009 and have never gotten a harassment email from them about allegedly violating the Terms. I've got around 20 computers linked on my account to help out friends and family, as well as to remote access a laptop that's running Davis WL software.

But do you ever remote into your home computer(s) from outside your iP Address?  If you do, and you're not getting harassed, there's something fishy in Germany.

At least 2 or 3 times a week. Plus several times a month I remote to other cities to fix stuff for family. Just a week or so ago I fixed a friend's WeatherLink software from 100 miles away. On several occasions I've fixed friends computers from across seas (you make friends all around the world with online gaming, lol).

Makes no sense. I thought at first it was just another scammer wanting personal information, knowing I was a very light user until I read this thread.

As some of you may know, my primary station is 600 kms from my current base - I use TV on Raspberry (and Remote.it) to access it regularly.  Last year I was working in Eastern Europe and remotely TV-ing in to help wife/kids etc. and grabbing files.  NEVER had an issue.  Heck, my regular MO is VPN/differnt IPs/changing MAC addresses and never an issue.  So I dunno?  But Anydesk looks great too - lightweight.  Might try that one.

If you are a Linux sort I highly recommend Remote.it

If you use version 12 or lower this is not an issue.

Through my work, I use a copy of RealVNC.  It is a direct connect based software.  Meaning I have the "server" version on my Weather PC and a hole through my firewall to access it.  But I can remote control my PC through my phone or what ever.  256 bit encrypted.

One of the perks of working in IT.  :-)

I've used TightVNC for years https://www.tightvnc.com/ and it has worked well for me.  Something to look at too.

One of the things I like(d) about Teamviewer is that it could burrow through pretty much any firewall.  And being in the cybersecurity end of things for international governments and clients, that impresses - and worries - me.  How do the others stack up?

I got that same email last month. I shutdown my account on teamviewer and uninstalled the program on all my computers. because I did not want to pay anything for it. I just got the same email today. I dont know why they even can still be able to email me being that I don't have a account anymore.

I just tired calling them but being that I don't pay for the software they can't help me. I just marked the email as spam  I will never use them again

I'm having success with Anydesk so also did uninstall on 3 computers of Teamviewer.
I read where ANYDESK was started up by previous developers of TeamViewer who no longer work there.

AnyDesk and I are getting along great, too!  There was a problem with the Address Book icon on the menu bar not working until they issued an update over the past couple of days.  Now everything is copasetic. [tup]
