You entire site had been timing out on me. Both index and index2. It been hit and miss on if your site loads up or not. I got it to load up long enough to do the tests.. Something is amiss...

What tests did you run?  And what did you mean by timing out?  I should say upfront I am still in the infant stage as far as learning code, and the terms used to descibe it.

I have modified and cleaned up some code on the page!  Can you see the data now???

The data is showing up on Wayne's Blackberry Curve 8530!

I'm sorry, I should have been a bit more specific.

The test was testing my LG blackberry on your site to see if your wx data was showing up on both your mobile page and your main page. My test results or findings with my phone were listed in my post above.

Timing out is when you enter a URL in your browser and it can not connect to a site in a timely enough fashion. You instead get a white page that says the connection has timed out. When I couldn't connect with my phone I tried to connect with my computer and I was still getting the timed out message off and on.  Sometimes it would connect and sometimes it would not. This was most likely caused by your web host doing maintenance or having issues.

I just tried go to your mobile page but I was not redirected to it from your main site index page. On your main page the data is still missing.

This is strange!  I had one broken link that I fixed!  I checked the script and it is set to redirect blackberrys.

Your Blackberry does not work but Wayne's Blackberry Curve Does!

Could you try on your blackberry 1 more time!  If you don't get redirected the link is www.peotoneweather.com/mobile.php

Ok, Ive spent a few hours on Blackberry forums!  As it turns out,  it is a well known issue that Blackberry's and ajax don't mix well!

According to 3 different boards I was on, Blackberry browseres didn't start to pick up ajax until late 2008-early 2009.  When it started it wasn't picking up all ajax(browser issue).

The latest models and browsers will pick up the ajax!  I talked on all the boards about a blackberry seeing ajax at eldaradoweather and that same blackberry not seeing it at peotoneweather.
On all of the boards they say it is a known issue!  Because of the way the blackberry reads the ajax, a widget on a web page, or a table not coded quite right would cause the Blackberry to not see the ajax(latest models will).  Suggestions from the Blackberry boards were to clean up code and if problem still exists leave it!  Newest blackberry browser fixes the issue and those with phones that can't upgrade to the new browser will eventually buy a new Blackberry.  According to the Blackberry board The iphone(safari) and nokia symbian(browser) are the closest to pc browsers.

At this point all i can do is find out if the code I cleaned up on the peotoneweather.com/mobile.phppage was enough to help the viewers with Blackberrys.  Since the newest Blackberry's see it Im not going to worry about chasing the issue any further!

So will anyone out there with Blackberry's let me know what they see on my mobile page????

No offense to Blackberry users but... if the pages can be viewed by every other phone browser out there then I'm good. There is no excuse for the browser in that expensive phone to not display pages like all other browsers do. If it were mine, I'd take it back but that's just me.  :-)

Do these phone developers even use these phones when they're creating these browsers? They most certainly don't design web pages nor do they learn from past mistakes (like IE6).

So will anyone out there with Blackberry's let me know what they see on my mobile page????

For peotoneweather.com - I was redirected this time but no joy on the data except for total rainfall.

For daculaweather.com - I was redirected and could see ALL data. The page was perfectly centered below the forecast icons. The forecast icons and above was off center and to the right. The very top banner was centered perfectly.

On the blackberry issue, my phone is about 6 months old, I can see all of my ajax data with my phone, and I can also see all of Dacula's data. Dacula is using combination of WD and VWS generated data which my phone has no trouble viewing.

Conclusion: My phone can view ajax data that is both WD and VWS generated.

I am not picking on you or your phone.  As stated above the issue could be the browser is confused by "my" code!  Understand my frustration when somee BB's see the data and others don't.

You mentioned before about not knowing with out seeing the code!  If thats an offer I'll be glad to show it:

What does +1 mean?
Danny, I hate to keep asking you to do this but can you check my page again, I'm trying to make some changes to make everything appear correct on your Blackberry. I want to see if I've got the forecast table fixed yet.

Don't worry about me, I don't mind if you talk negatively about my phone or blackberries in general and I appreciate all the information from other boards you have posted. It is all very helpful. My phone is not technically a Black Berry, it is an LG Lotus flip phone that looks like a blackberry when flipped open but just a bit smaller. So go ahead and trash away anything you want, I really don't mind at all! Just tell all the facts as you see them, that's what I have been trying to do. I have been learning a lot on this subject by yours and Steve's posts.

I can't really test your code completely since VWS is not generating my data. The first thing I did was to check your page for errors. You have 148 Errors and 69 warnings. My suggestion would be to get your code to validate and then lets see if that helps. I attached a photo of my phone below so you guys can know exactly what were dealing with..

Here is a shot in the dark...  I read a little about text representation on different phone browsers in the forums, so I put up a 2nd mobile page for testing.  I changed some things in the <head> for text and css style.

www.peotoneweather.com/mobile2

I am currious if this will show up on the BB!  Let me know...

Still no data. In the code you posted for your mobile site, I see no vws tags.

The VWS missing tags should look something like these:
Code: [Select]
^vst142^ ^vst143^ ^vva007^ ^uni007^
Also in one of your posts you just posted +1.. What do you mean by that?

No offense to Blackberry users but... if the pages can be viewed by every other phone browser out there then I'm good

Personally I would not blow off Black Berries not seeing my mobile site. That's a huge segment of the mobile phone market.

Danny, I hate to keep asking you to do this but can you check my page again, I'm trying to make some changes to make everything appear correct on your Blackberry. I want to see if I've got the forecast table fixed yet.

The page I was redirected was totally different than the one I looked at before but I could see all of your data. No banner and it had just one data element per line.

Looks exactly same same as what I said in my last post with no banner, except now for the Baro and Wind is showing vws tags and not the data. The tags showing are: vvx023 & vvx001

Sounds good Wayne. The VWS tags are very much needed as seen in Kens VWS Demo Page and is most likely the problem.. You should also take care of all the validation errors while your at it.

When I did a xhtml check on my page is had a ton of errors. I the doc type back to transitional and it's all ok. The mobile phone doc type is crazy.

Try this Steve I am using the W3C doc type, not the WAPFORUM doc type...

My page with the below sample Doc Type validates with no issues:

Code: [Select]
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML Basic 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml-basic/xhtml-basic11.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">
