Frozen Tree...
« on: May 10, 2015, 09:29:30 PM »
It's not really weather, but it was caused by freezing rain.  Shot through the front window of my house in Georgia with the flood light at our tennis court in the background.

I have a friend in Danville CA who took a similar photo of heavy dew on a tree.
The look is almost spiderweb like. Thank you for sharing this incredible phenomenon.

What's most amazing to me is the fact that the tree didn't break apart under the weight!  We heard literally dozens of trees collapsing at some distance in the woods behind my property throughout the night.

The amount of ice varied around Atlanta.

But up here about 35 miles North of the city, we had a solid 1 to 2 inches of thick, clear ice on the ground.  Trees were bending over in the middle, and lot of people lost power.

When we bought this house, one of the criteria was all utilities had to be underground.  We enjoyed uninterrupted electricity during "Icemageddon" as some were calling it around here.
