WU maps dead again???
« on: September 12, 2019, 09:07:27 AM »
None of the WU maps are working on the Saratoga template.

Did they kill them or is it just another WU issue? Fronts does not work.

I do know the Twin Cities radar is down for maintenance for a few weeks.
This may be the end of WU for me.

The regional WU radar I use has been down since Wednesday.  The interactive  WU radar is awfully erratic.  Hopefully, my Stillwater area radar is working properly, pictured:

Working here except for the ongoing bug of not showing the number of frames it is set to display.

You're surrounded fine here. Why anyone use WU for practically anything is beyond me. However, theses do still use "flash", but certainly better resolution.

Mine often shows the same, but fortunately it's okay for now, while a storm is passing through.

Having the same problem with Nexrad. I put in a support ticket to WU asking for a resolution. Im also getting "radar down for maintenance" and a black backgroumd flashing with no data on the image loop. If you are experiencing this issue I suggest putting in a support ticket. The more we send the better.

FYI...WU now considers this to be a "deprecated", unsupported product and unlikely to have any resources allocated to it.  They are trying to force everyone onto the utterly useless "wundermap".

While waiting for storms to arrive last night I noticed that the whole-US and regional radar maps are stuck on Sept. 11.  Many local radars selected from the regional map come back "down for maintenance" even though the direct URLs work.  It's a mess.

I think WU has reached the WYSIWYG stage.  What you see is what you get and we're constantly getting less and less.  They're discontinuing the daily email of a ten day forecast, effective October 1.  The dashboard is a mess, and has been since IBM took over.  Maps are a joke and there seems to be no real testing of code before it's implemented.  In my mind, it's just a question of time before it's gone completely.  It's obvious Big Blue doesn't have a real interest in it and bought it to capitalize on the date.  The data will slowly disappear, too, as people become disgusted with what has turned into a wreck.  I have to admit to thinking, more and more, about shutting down the Access device and selling it on FleaBay.

Took off the Saratoga WU maps package today...Think I am done with it.

It is a shame. It was great with the animated and still clicks.

Why not use the Access with WeeWx or Acuparse and do more with your data than relying on WU and myAcurite?

Surprisingly Ive been in very good communication with support. Here is the latest response after asking what the issue is causing "radar down for maintenance"

Quote
Chris, Because we are having server issues, and the software is not able to access the images it needs. The programmers expect it to be resolved tomorrow.

Thank you for your patience, and thank you for using Weather Underground!
