What does WZ mean for NWR Call Signs

I Wanted to ask this because Almost all Stations have normal set call sign letters and only a sum of ones have WZ and 4 numbers.I Wanna know what WZ means and why only a small sum have WZ in their call signs.

It doesn't really mean anything except in the FCC's assignment scheme.

Even "WX" doesn't have a particular meaning in callsigns. 

A ham radio operator with the right qualifications can request a callsign with a WX or WZ prefix.

I believe those are related to water areas that are not associated to specific counties/cities..(i.e. rivers, lakes, bays,.etc...)

also idk why the NWS changed KIG63 in Cannonsburg, MI to WZ2560 but on the broadcast it's still says KIG 63?
