Website using API
« on: February 01, 2016, 09:01:11 PM »
Edit:

Here is a link found on the BloomSky blog from an author who used the API interface and created this site.

It shows there are many options available.

http://jeromi.us/devZone/weather/

Even the battery voltage is available :)

Not getting anything - just "Loading Data...".

Do you need to have an account with Bloomsky to see any results?

EDIT: Working fine now - must have been my connection at that time...

Cool! (nice job!) It says 2 hours ago, can it update every 5 minutes?  (I just did a refresh, now it says 8 minutes.)

Is there a code template that we can copy?

Is there a code template that we can copy?

This! ^^

It will be really easy to add this code to existing templates.

You can also use the API via IFTTT (http://ifttt.com) to post to Twitter and use the widget provided by Twitter on your website.

I have set mine up over at http://www.cincinnatiobservatory.org/about/weather-10/ with what was posted on reddit by jeromius on /r/BloomSky.  I use to have it use Twitter (@COCWX) and Facebook.  It posts too much for Tumblr, however, Tumblr can host the videos.

The code is available for those interested on the author's website. It requires PHP and HTML (including the need for JavaScript and jQuery).

Here is the link to the code, http://jeromius.xyz/2016/01/18/working-with-the-bloomsky-api-in-php-and-javascript/
 Save the first PHP code, with your API key from BloomSky, as data.php. This gives the data json from your station.
 Click this link http://jeromi.us/devZone/weather/, then right click to view the html source.

OK, I must be close.  All I get is "Loading Data".  I have a data.php file in the same folder with my API key.

I'm seeing this when I try to load your data.php file:

Code: [Select]
<br />
<b>Warning</b>:  file_get_contents() [<a href='function.file-get-contents'>function.file-get-contents</a>]: Failed to enable crypto in <b>/home/content/d/z/a/dzastoupil/html/bloomsky/data.php</b> on line <b>16</b><br />
<br />
<b>Warning</b>:  file_get_contents(https://api.bloomsky.com/api/skydata) [<a href='function.file-get-contents'>function.file-get-contents</a>]: failed to open stream: operation failed in <b>/home/content/d/z/a/dzastoupil/html/bloomsky/data.php</b> on line <b>16</b><br />

That should return a json document.

I was assuming the line in the HTML file url: "data.php" means that my config file should be named data.php.  Is that not correct?
