WWW page
« on: May 01, 2017, 12:43:09 PM »
Hello,

I am thinking about making my own website, now only local on my computer, maybe later also on the internet.

I use Cumulus. I see it also has some webpages producing. I see lot of you have very proffesional webpages. I am not programmer, I know a little HTML and CSS and I had a very simple webpage in the past so I know how use FTP or local server.

So I want ask how difficult it is to make webpage and how much programming knowledge necessary to do this. Ideally I want the setup to be easy for me because as said I know code very little, I never work with PHP, which I think your webpages use.

But I see some of you have similar webpages so it probably is some general webpage I could use too.
My idea:
it works with Cumulus
it shows me data from my station (WH-1090)
forecast is very nice too
if maybe I could little bit choose design colour
if it shows me some graph and table it is also useful

Thank you very much for all your help, this forum I think is really helpful

Hi Jan,
I also use Cumulus and have several of the available website templates, and all except my modified Cumulus standard template, were quite easy to set up for a non-programmer and also initially a beginner ad not knowing html, php, etc.  I do a lot of cut and paste, trial and error, and ask for help when needed.

www.komokaweather.ca (Ken's Saratoga)
www.komokaweather.com (modified Cumulus
www.komokaweather.com/weather28 (Wim's Leuven)
www.komokaweather.com/pws (Brian's HomeWeather Dashboard)
www.komokaweather.com/j-template (Jachym's Meteotemplate)

We will gladly share and help with your questions...

Enjoy,
Paul

Hello Paul,

thank you very much. Your webpages look amazing. I probably like most Saratoga, Leuven and Meteotemplate. I looked at all and they all include what I want so it is now difficult to decide which one the best for me. And they all work for Cumulus. On the contrary I only want one webpage so I must choose. This looks really good, it is very nice people share their work here like this.

Hi Jan,
Start with one and set it up to your liking.  Each of the template has very good instructions and the developers are very helpful when needed.

You can always change or add another whenever you want and feel comfortable doing so.

Enjoy,
Paul

Thank you.

I looked at them carefully again. It looks to me like the Cumulus default is a little limited. HomeWeather is only one page. The other three all have little different appearance, but it seems like they all work almost same.

I will see if I am able to install them. It would also be nice if the template supported Slovak.

Hi Paul,
if I can ask, is it possible to show data from the past or it only shows what is now?

Paul,

I was looking through your examples and I liked this one:
http://www.komokaweather.com/mysql/dayfile/datatables/examples/server_side/dayfile-sql.php
I like the color coding of the values.
Would you be willing to share the code?
Thanks,

Jay

Hi Jay,
That is by user Kocher at Cumulus' Sandaysoft.com/forum and found at http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=15983&p=122723&hilit=kocher#p122723

If you have any difficulty getting the code from that let me know and I can provide my modified package.

Enjoy,
Paul

Thank you very much Paul. Thank you for your help. I decided I will not use Cumulus pages because my plan is in the future buy Meteobridge. For me it is better when I donīt have to have my computer started all day. I am now deciding between the Saratoga template and Meteotemplate.
Thank you very much
