Old technology? Well, yeah maybe. But the thing here is that it is accurate, reliable, easy to maintain. I hate this new junk today. Maybe I am a bit biased but I have been a weather spotter 30 years. I am a broadcaster, meteorologist, Broadcast engineer, voice over specialist, and radio station owner. I demand the best on the market. I have always depended on Maximum or Texas Electronics. Expensive, but easy to service and maintain. The Wr 25 made by Texas Weather Instruments is one of the best digital weather stations on the market. While I believe Davis is surely a candidate, TE has always made the absolute best sensors available. In fact for old technology, I still use a set of Texas Electronics analog weather instruments because they are accurate, reliable, easy to service. Wind speed and direction should always be real time. Otherwise peak gusts are missed. The TWI uses TE wind sensors. mainly on the WLS 8000 but available as an upgrade for any TWI station. TWI also created the AWS weather net stations and their technology is in them. I own both. Accurate as hell and very reliable. The TWI wr 25 and the WLS 8000 match its accuracy. And as stated I am very picky. The aws uses the RM Young aerovane. These too are very good. While these are maybe old technology, it's funny that I have had them 20-25 years without any glitch. How many Acurites are purchased and tossed in less then a year?
