Adobe Flash Rapid Fire
« on: December 15, 2016, 06:41:26 AM »
Window 10, updated yesterday, notice flash player, particularly Rapid Fire player crashes IE and Chrome. Error "A script in this movie is causing Adobe flash player to run slowly" And then it asks me to terminate the script. I thought this my be a windows 10/IE issue but Chrome was doing the same thing. I get to work this AM, windows 7 and I'm having the same issue.  WTF over! Is anybody else seeing this and if so have you found a fix. I checked flash player and I have the latest update.

Flash player is crashing here too. Running the script provided by WU. The direct link to personal dashboard is still working however. This sucks for many who were using the flash player for live conditions on personal websites.

I went to get a sticker for PWS and all flash stickers are down also. Could be something to do with WU because I didn't do or allow any updates.

I think you are right about WU. Flash is working fine w/ Non WU web sites.

It is but Im sure you know it is only a matter of time, Chrome will stop supporting Flash as of Jan 2017 (unless you explicitly select to run it), FF will follow soon after and I don´t think it will take too long before it is completely discontinued (which it already is on mobile devices)

Yes I was aware it was going down, didn't know when though. Maybe they will come out with another way to run the scripts. Guess this thread will explode once people realize flash isn't working.

I've removed my WU flash player script from website. Script was hanging causing browser issues when I tried it out.

Every good website replaced Flash with HTML5, the fact Flash is dead has been known for quite a while.

Maybe so but flash is still working all over the web. This is something WU has done broke or who knows. Hopefully they are working on some script conversion so the live conditions scripts can still be used.

You see it less and less often because it does not work at all on mobile devices and just a few months ago we passed another milestone - more people viewed the web from a mobile device than from an ordinary desktop PC

I guess WU will go the same way of flash, if it doesn't replace it.

Looks like the stickers are back up. I just added to signature and turned into banner. I added the dual with metric Celsius temperature.

I noticed that in Firefox there was an Shockwave Flash update on Dec. 13th...  That is about when my Rapid Fire object started to crash.  Rapid Fire has been a thorn in my side for some time now....  But as soon as I drop it from my site I get complaints.  For some reason I have several visitors that like to watch the needle move....   :???:  Right now I have disabled it on my site and other sites that I support.  Yes, it would be nice to get away from Flash and have a comparable solution from Weather Underground...  HTML5 would be nice....

It's now late 2017.  Why the hell is wunderground still using flash?
