Rare SF Bay lightning...
« on: August 07, 2015, 12:48:31 AM »
We don't usually get Rain, much less lightning in our area in August (normal rain is about 0.03in for the month).

Thanks to a tropical moisture stream that backs up to about Hawaii, we are getting some convection (but mostly 'dry' lightning, which is not good).

We got some of those thunderboomers around here too but, very little rain.  Even the tv news people remarked how unusual it was to have this much lightning and thunder.

I was also watching the lightning strikes at http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime?lang=en but, it didn't seem like it was recording all of them that I was seeing around here.  Is there a delay between the time the sensor records the strike and when it is displayed on the map?
