Weatherlink Graphs not updating
« on: July 05, 2019, 12:36:18 PM »
My 24 hour graphs quit updating on July 3.

I noticed that WL created a weird wlk file. I deleted that. And deleted the current July 2019 wlk file. But still not updating graphs.

Also, on Weatherlink-it has not updated any history or graphs since July 3.

I have closed all running programs. VVP, Startwatch, Weatherlink and Weather Display.

The only thing I have not done is a restart. Maybe next week if I can go in. I don't want to do it over Teamviewer.

First issue with WL for a long time.

now the graphs say 2-10-82

hoping 1982. Not 2082.

You may want to give Davis tech support a call, they're usually pretty knowledgeable.

Feels like it is not pulling history from the logger. May have to go in Monday.

My guess would be corrupt data in the logger - you might need to completely clear the logger.

Did you try also deleting the DataSets.dat  & DataLists.dat files?  (Of course, close Weatherlink first, and restart after doing that).

No. I have never done that before.  Thanks  for the idea. Do it when I get home.

They get re-created automatically - but for "safety" you could just move the old files somewhere else, or rename them to something.txt or whatever.

By the way, I notice that your "current month's data" says:  MONTHLY CLIMATOLOGICAL SUMMARY for FEB. 2086

Well, there's that MONTHLY CLIMATOLOGICAL SUMMARY for FEB. 2086

But the daily graphs are showing 01/22/96-01/23/96

However, the high/low/current graphics are properly showing 07/06/19

Truly confusing......

I like WL but it is truly perplexing how it can work perfectly for a long time then just suddenly wig out. :?
Good luck David and I hope you get it figured out.

Think the problem is that it's not as robust to corrupt data as it could be. For a system that's on 24/7 and receiving new data packets continuously every 2.5 seconds, it's almost inevitable that some wireless interference or mains-borne interference is going to cause a glitch in the data sooner or later. Just a shame that the console/logger itself or indeed the WL program is not a little better at filtering out obviously bad data, but that's not going to change now unfortunately.

Did it all. No luck.

Restarted too.  When I open  VVP is seems to take much longer to download the information.

I have the feeling that if I go in, my console may have been bumped and the data logger is partially out of the console.

Maybe the data logger is failing or I have to power down everything, pull it out and restart it all.
I do have a USB data logger-but it is old and I am still weary of it. AND I do not know if it is compatible with VVP.

Can we presume that you have used Weatherlink to set Date/Time on the console?

Emailed Davis---

This sounds like data corruption regarding your Weatherlink Software Download.

Please open up the “Browser” button (looks like a yellow writing pad). Then highlight each record with a date that is in the future (can only do 1 at a time). Press the “DEL” button on your keyboard.

Once all are deleted, then restart and try to re-download.

It should work.

If you still have problems, then Go into your c:\weatherlink\<yourstationname>

And delete the following files:

DataLists.dat

DataSets.dat

Rain.db

Also, delete any *.wlk files that have a year that would be in the future.

If all else fails:

If you see that it puts weird dates in again, then the logger has corrupt data and must be cleared. To clear it, go to Setup and Set Archive Interval, then answer YES when it warns about clearing the logger. Then you can put it back to whatever interval you want.

So none of that worked. Have not had time this week to go in. Maybe next week. Not a big deal.

Went to school. Deleted bad data and the files listed.

Powered down everything, took out the data logger. Waited 10 minutes. Hooked up everything.

It did not pick up old data but it is no big deal.
All good now.

That was the first time the data logger had been removed since 2009 or 2010. Just after I started this hobby.
