Hi,

I am looking for a basic setup that will provide me live and past temperature, humidity and possibly pressure if budget allows. I would like to access this data remotely probably through my Android phone.

I have been looking at this but I was wondering if there is a cheaper (yet still functional) option available: https://www.acurite.com/environment-system-with-temperature-and-humidity-01059.html

Many thanks,

Alex

Adding pressure is the issue - you'd have to go to the Acurite 3-1 station (also adds wind speed but not direction) for a few bucks more.  If you want just temp/hum (and maybe light etc.) try Wireless Tags as linked in my signature.

Thanks for your reply. What would you say are the advantages of the wireless sensor tags over the Aucrite systems? Once I add postage to Canada on both the price is quite comparable.

Unless you use a freight forwarder/US postal etc. you will get slaughtered shipping Acurite to Canada.  BTDT.  CAOGadgets will ship MUCH cheaper.  I guess the main diffs are that:
- WT sensors are much smaller
- several kinds of sensors for both but the WT ones add security, motion, light etc. that Acurite do not
- WT has logging tags where as Acurite does not
- Acurite phone apps are prettier  :)
- WT has IFTTT support; Acurite does not AFAIK
- Acurite has better battery life IME

I have both and like them both.  FOr the record my sig link gives me a small referral fee if you buy using it.  ;)

Ok so if you wanted to use wireless tags to build something that could integrate with services like Wunderground that would be possible?

If I do go with the wireless tags then I will use your link :)

It should be possible to link Wirelesstags to WU - possibly through their APPI or using IFTTT.  Never tried it though.
