Scotland was battered by winds of up to 165 miles (266 kilometres) per hour on Thursday, causing widespread disruption to transport links, closing schools and leaving tens of thousands without power.

Sure feel for them. Looking like western Australia is next for some wind with 'Alenga' approaching.

Yeah been watching go back down. A day ago it was a cat.1 and this morning up to a cat.2 but now dropping back to 1.

The chap who watched as his wife went up a ladder to retrieve a broken sign is a real gentleman!

The 165mph gust was at the summit of Caingorm. More typical wind gusts were around 104mph. The worst storm to hit Scotland for around 9 years.

 Anchorage had 130 mph the other day blowing windows that where suppose to take winds of that speed. The homes shown on the news had crumpled glass all over the place. Some much for tempered glass windows.

There are some insane wind speeds! The strongest wind Ive ever experienced is around 80mph :lol:
