Side by side  -No scroll required, but images are pretty small.

On top of each other (Vertical)  This one needs a scroll, but the images are large and easy to see

I have 10 similar pages to this on current site that I am transitioning....

Thanks
Andrew

I like the vertical maps better, Andrew. Just as you stated, they are easier to see.

I like eg 1. Everything's visible in the smaller format.

If you have more than two or three maps you want to show, I'd definitely use the "thumbnail" (side by side) approach.

Personally, I like #1 better, but you could always make the images clickable to view a larger image by itself.

Well, I suppose if I was wearing my reading glasses, I could see the side by side maps better as well ;)

I like the side by side maps as well.  Here's a thought though, can you make the maps clickable so they point to a page with the large map?

With wide screen monitors so common it's probably best to go with a web design that can best take advantage of the wide view, rather than let all that space on the right and left side go to waste.

Also the 2nd home page using modified AltDashboard 6.95 at http://stillwaterweather.com/2ndhome.php

Ditto on both counts.

I'd go with the side by side view as it gives the viewer a quick overview and a quicker download of the images (smaller images = faster download time). You could make those images clickable so they expand into a full size image for better viewing but, with these particular images, I'm not sure you really get any additional detail when they are expanded.

Andrew, you can also change the size of the side-by-side maps a bit to make them more readable ;)

Since these maps don't have a lot of detail anyway, the side by side version is better for me.
I decided to rotate my small maps on my opening page, about every 6 seconds is a new map. But for large maps, I did mine this way, these are the Wunderground maps on my site:

Thanks for all the comments.  Looks like side by side, with clickable wins... Great, 3 times the work (need 3 pages each) to make clickable.   Actually my current page has a clickable circular reference...  but its only two pages per map.

I ended up going same as current site in the end.  If you select on menu, you get static map, clicking the image, or the link below gives you animated

Thanks for voting and comments.
