just temp logger?
« on: June 10, 2011, 04:21:58 PM »
I want to log outside temp and have the ability to periodically upload to a pc.

humidity would be a bonus but not a necessity.

most loggers are inside use only.

can anyone suggest a good one for use in the UK?

I have a max budget of £50.

thanks

www.omega.co.uk/ppt/pptsc.asp?ref=OM-EL-USB-1

any feedback on these things?

can I not measure humidity when the case is on?

they can log every 10sec but a one min log rate will last 27 days before an upload.  they also log co2.

anyone?

I have not used any of those, so I can only offer opinion, not review or feedback.

The USB stick looks cool, and I would imagine it is intended to collect data with the cap ON.  It appears to be for an indoor application, such as a data center, etc.  We use portable loggers like this (look nothing like this) from Extron to monitor equipment closets and such.  I don't get the impression that you could attach this full-time to a long USB cable and have real-time uploads (with a DIY program to do that at best).

I like the Oregon Sci unit.  I think I may investigate that for my own use.  Wireless outdoor sensor (temp only) and a PC interface.  That meets your base criteria, but you may still have to roll your own uploader.

A lot of neat features on the Watson, and a decent price it seems.  It is more scalable than the others, but I have never heard of it.  See if you can find a manual online to see if has the software goodies you need right out of the box.
