I'm with Jack. I've been running WxSim for quite some time. Tom spends about 4 hours for every site, customizing all of the setting and the files that WxSim uses and that WxSimate downloads.
After sale, he's always been there to answer questions and help me tweak my settings for my unique situation. He's also open to suggestions and fairly frequent updates.
In general, my temperature forecasts are way better than the NWS. (ForecastAdvisor.com is a great comparison site to see how bad the big guns can be in forecasting.) And, it seems like the NWS is way more optimistic than WxSim when it comes to precip, and WxSim is closer to what really happens.
OTOH, it does take a little effort to understand and get comfortable with. It's very powerful. Once you are happy with the the output, it can be run automatically on its own internal scheduler. I have mine making forecasts 4x per day, right after the GFS model run is made available.
And yes, with a little PHP scripting, the forecast is very readable. The forecast summary panel on
www.SLOweather.com is from WxSim output, and the more complete forecast at
http://wx.sloweather.com/forecast/forecast.php is also from WxSim data.
If you are really interested in WxSim, I recommend that you check out the support forum on the weather-watch site at
http://www.weather-watch.com/smf/index.php/board,36.0.html . There is a lot of good info there, and lots of users to answer your questions.
One last thought... I don't know what your climatology is like there, but 25 miles from here in any direction is a completely different area with markedly different weather conditions. I wouldn't trust a forecast for any of them to reflect what I should expect.
