WMR200 / THGR810 vs AS-2000 / WH31B
« on: October 21, 2019, 04:57:08 PM »
Hi,

I currently own a WMR200 and besides the basic weatherstation, I use it to monitor my greenhouse using a THGR810.  It's always been a bit flaky keeping the wireless connection working.  The greenhouse is maybe 50 feet from my house.  The rain gauge has recently stopped connecting at all...  I'm contemplating replacing it with a AS-2000 from Ambient Weather.

My main consideration is am I going to get better or worse wireless performance?  I see the THGR810s transmit on 433mhz and the WH31B on 915mhz.  All things equal, the 433mhz devices should perform better penetrating walls, etc.  But, I don't know the power output of each, etc. so hard to draw any conclusions.

Wondering if anyone has had experience with both systems?

Also interested in opinions in general on each.

I recently purchased a WeatherBridge for the WMR200 which I really like.  Ambient will let me return it for credit against an AS-2000.  Or I could replace the rain gauge and just be annoyed with the wireless performance.

I use a HP2550 which is the equivalent of the Ambient WS-2000 and tri-wing sensor array.
I have extra sensors in my Garage and in my Garage Freezer which are some 50 feet from my console with no issues to measure temperature and humidity.
This sounds similar to your requirements.

I'm also still interested if anyone has compared the WMR200 vs AS-2000.

There is a typo in this thread title and follow up posts. There is no AS-2000. The OP means WS-2000.

I would hardly feel the need to compare a WMR200 to a WS-2000. They are different generation devices. The WMR200 is pretty dated technology. No contest.

This post in the other thread is the only comparison you need. See it's pointless.
